Which Driver for evga 6800GS AGP Superclocked?
I'm using driver 82.12 (came with evga card). I have an evga 6800GS AGP superclocked 400/1100.
So far I'm not impressed. I believe the driver settings could be optimised for better gameplay. I am also looking at overclocking my main processor, but that will be AFTER I get the video driver setup to my liking. In short, I'm looking for an Omega type driver. It included everything. I would like to do the following: 1. See the card/chip temps by clicking on the icon in the tray. 2. Be able to overclock or at least see the current settings. 3. I would prefer a driver already tweaked for optimum settings (speed/quality) rather than tweak everything myself. Is there anything out there like that? I have tried nvtool? and a couple of others (RivaTuner) but they had way to many settings and I would still have to play with them. Thanks |

Nevermind, using the NGOHQ driver 83.62 (I believe).
Works great. Performance of the card is still low tho....might be my system. |

AMD 2000+ (Palamino) 1 Gig of Ram (512+256x2) 80HD IDE MSI K7 266-RU motherboard (v2.0) aka 6380 (i think) 430watt Enermax power supply This is my older system. I was hoping to upgrade it with the 6800GS Superclocked and get a 7800GS Super for my AMD Barton 2600+. Looking at the performance, it looks like its CPU limited. I think I am going to move my old 9800 Pro to this system and the 6800GS to the AMD Barton one. Then I will cut my losses and pick up a new AM2 socket system in a few months. This really sucks, as I usually leap frog components, and its extremely hard to pick up whole new system. I will need a new MB, Processor, Video card at least. More than likely I will try to pick up a case and power supply not to mention the DDR2 memory. |

DDR2 ain't good for AMD (notably slower), but your choice.
No wonder your system disapoint you. The mobo is pisspoor one. The Palmolino trashed my bro more that 2 years ago. Ahe he had faster one, IIRC. Getting fast GFX card for your system is useless. MSI mobos are poor in general. AMD cpu's love very fast memory. Something that can do 2-2-2 clocks are necessary to see the power. DDR2 suxx on AMD badly, as they have relaxed timings and this won't suit AMD as any modern CPU (Intel Canroe is likely to behave same with relaxed timings rams, P4 is exception by faulty design meant to only archieve highest clocks, entierly forgetting the power come from effectivity of work done ber Mhz cycle... Canroe is like that, at 2.66Ghz beat the crap out of AMD X2 with the lame useless DDR2 - don't go ask why me, I already told you...) In short, unless you get a AMD XP-M and clock it to at least 2500Mhz (PR3500+), you did not see much from your GFX card. Same if you use ram that is worser that 2-2-2 and your FSB is lower that 230Mhz. Mark my words. |
