MSI Geforce 7900 GT driver problem

Hello,
I have tried every single driver available here and everywhere else to install my new 7900 GT. This is a new card straight out of the box on a new hard drive, motherboard,....everything.

Any driver, as soon as it's installed and right before it asks to reboot, goes to a black screen and I eventually have to reboot. I can boot into safe mode, removed the drivers through control panel, and everything is fine then. I have already reloaded Windows XP and SP2 once. Right now I have not installed any hardware or software since I reloaded until I get this problem solved. I have also updated my motherboard bios and all the onboard stuff as well. Anyone have any ideas. This is pretty frustrating.

Thanks,
Joseph

is there any 7900gt option available when the driver ask you to choose during the installation or it just simply say no appropriate adapter found?

when you formatted windows, what order did you install the drivers for your machine after you installed the drivers? The recommended order to install drivers in is: motherboard, gfx card, sound card (if installed), other devices (USB/fire-wire card, etc.), peripheral devices (scanner/printer, etc.), and then install all windows update software.

It would help out if you listed the rest of your system specs: CPU, MoBo, gfx we already know, PSU, RAM, etc.

What divers have you tried already? by you saying "every driver available", that's a pretty large range of drivers . Just more details please

i think the thread starter is having the same problem with mine before. the OEM 7800gtx i'm using now can't seem to work well with lotsa version of forceware at 1st. after some trial & error, i found that winfast driver manage to make my card run properly.

the scenarios was:

the driver (forceware) can't initialize the adapter appropriately. this can be knew when no correct model (e.g 7800gtx in my case, 7900gt for thread starter) listed when the user prompted to choose the adapter in use during installation of driver.

what i did was:

use the winfast driver (which offer the 7800gtx option) when i install the driver manually. if happened need to update the forceware version, install the latest version of forceware as usual (but after reboot the version of forceware still the same). after that, paste the nv4_display.inf of previous driver that worked properly (in my case, i used the one from the winfast driver) and overwrite the one came with the later version. done.

it might not work for the thread starter but no harm in having a try....
