Question on TV detection
Hi there,
I'm having trouble using the TV-out on my leadtek 7950gx2. I'm running the official 93.71's. The drivers don't detect the TV I hooked up to the videocard via a Svideo cable. I tried to force detection through the classic control panel but after the reboot the drivers fail to load anymore giving a general windows crash error. In the new control panel I am able to get the desktop image on my TV but only as a single display, so my monitor goes black, the clone option isn't available. The weird thing is, when I don't have any display drivers installed at all it works like it should in windows, even during booting I have my computers image on my TV, but after the welcome page of windows my TV goes black again. (when i have drivers installed) I hope someone can help! P.S. On a different note, is it normal that when you boot the gx2 it only displays 512mb of memory instead of the 1024mb it actually has on board? Running it in combination with an asus p5b deluxe and core 2 duo e6600. Anything else I should watch out for to ensure I'm utilizing it's full potential? |

Ok, I seem to have found the/a solution. Clone only works when you set the GPU to single. This presents another problem, can I somehow automate use of dual GPU for my games and single GPU with clone when in the desktop area and playing movies and such?
Right now it's a real pain to have to keep switching between settings, especially since every time I do it I also have to alter the TV resolution settings. Very annoying. By the way, is the performance hit significant when playing games in single GPU mode? |

The reason why you see only 512Mb of VRAM is because the card is running in Dual Channel mode; i believe you get to see the entire 1Gb if running in non-SLI mode. The solution you found for having a 2nd display available is the only solution. Having profiles in the control panel AFAIK, aren't available. Possibly in the new control panel, but I'm not too familiar w/the new control panel as of yet.
