Sometimes when you install new versions of drivers, or connect a new montior. Happens more in win xp than any other OS.
Sometimes it can can locked on one resolution.

Just a odd thing i have seen work. May help.

I'm really not trying to bash or get down on you or your card, but I wouldn't even pay attention to drivers anymore, unless someone finds some Det 44.03.1 that they jump up and down and get a 500% performance boost and no IQ hit with... Then I'd try them out and see.
I will install any drivers that are from nVidia and are for GeForce cards, not Quadro or some other bullshit.

Do you play games on that computer? Just wondering. What is your 3Dmark 2001 score? I can understand getting a new cpu before a good video card if you never play games. Maybe you don't- Just wondering.

I added the 42.92 drivers to the list of benchmark scores in my post above- I also added 42.92 4xS AA scores- I might add the rest later- I will also keep updating the list when newer drivers come out.

* I'll just move the benchmark scores down here.

I have been using the 43.00's and really like them, fast stable, great IQ-- 2xAA looks like 4x to me- and the 8xAF looks great too. I will try the 43.30's out in the next few days and see what they are like.
It will be hard to top the 43.00's for me. I have been playing SOF2 multiplayer lately and w/ AA 2x and AF 8x @ 10x7 I get a solid (limited by me in game) 90fps with my card at 305/594mhz. BF1942 is doing better than any other drivers on the 43.00's I'll compare these games w/ the 43.30's

My test settup w/ everyday O/C'ing

-Windows XP Pro SP1
-AMD 1800xp (locked) at 1622mhz (141fsb)
--256mb PC2100 *2.2.2.7 at 282mhz
---XFX GF4 ti4200 @310mhz core/594 mem 64mb
----Intellisample set to middle, Quality
-----Fresh install of drivers

3DMark01se 1024 x 768 - default :

NO AA or AF (best performance in Direct 3D settings)
-42.92 10,769

-43.00 10,814

-43.30 10,810

-43.45 10,777
2x AA and 8x AF (best Image Quality in Direct 3D settings)
-42.92 6,643

-43.00 6,649

-43.30 6,664
4x AA and 8x AF (best Image Quality in Direct 3D settings)
-42.92 4,946

-43.00 4,944

-43.30 4,955

-43.45 4,959
4xS AA and 8x AF (best Image Quality in Direct 3D settings)
-42.92 3,548

-42.30 3,551

-43.45 3,581

The scores show a small gain in performance with AA enabled with the 43.30 drivers. No AA is about the same. I also think that the 2x AA in the 43.30 driver looks better. When watching the benchmark run and testing real games(SOF2, BF1942,RTCW) I noticed that the greatest improvement in speed was when the card was being pushes the heardest. -the times when there is a lot going on in the scene and the frames dip the most, there I see a HUGE improvement on my rig, about 5+ or more FPS. Everywhere else (normal conditions) seems to be about the same performance. That would account for the small increase in score. I think NVidia is still trying to get more performance/quality in 2x AA mode, where most people probably use AA most of the time. 4x AA looks a little bit better, but not enough to sacrifice the hit in frames per second that enabling it causes.
All the games I tested run very smooth with both sets of drivers, but the new 43.30 seems to be a tad bit better in that department too. As always anisotropic filtering looks sweet and I have 8x enabled whenever possible.

When installing the 43.30 drivers, NView desktop is not installed by default as it is in the 43.00's. I had to go into the unzipped driver folder and there was a separate folder for Nview, there was a separate Nview set up file in there. Also, there isn't a place to access the Nview desktop settings in the display properties, you have to go to the control panel for that.
I actually use it, I like the 'Maximize windows Faster' feature and the 'Make windows transparent when moved' feature. It just looks cool. It only used up 3 or 4 megs of ram having these options enabled and I can tell the difference when navigating through windows- menues pop up faster, windows load faster, just more responsive w/ that feature turned on.

When uninstalling the drivers the Nview desktop did not uninstall along with drivers as usual, there was a seperate uninstall program in the add/remove program sections for that in the control panel.

I will be using the 43.30's until something better comes out, I would say my setup is average, and alot of people have comparable systems. Before these I used the 43.00 which were good, and before that I used the 42.82's- these were the best for me until the 43.00's came out. I never tried the 42.90's and I didn't like the 42.86's on my rig- just to choppy in D3D and OpenGL. Don't know why, just the way it is. I am sure every machine is different.

*note- I could not get the 43.00 from DH to work, I unzipped, then put the new .inf in the driver folder. Then while installing, got an error message- something about could not write nv4.dll. I tries a few more times, no go. I got the 43.00 from guru3d and used the same .inf and it worked fine. No Idea why.

Also with these drivers, in dxdiag, under files i get this wierd error. But it doesn't seem to effect performance.----> The file directx.cpl is a debug version, which will run slower than the retail version.

***update on 42.92- these drivers have the all-to-familiar problem that many of the other drivers Nvidia puts out have- The animation and over all "smoothness" of these drivers is horrible on my system. While playing RTCW single player, they actually "freeze" evrey couple of seconds. I'll be getting a solid 80 to 90 FPS and every couple of seconds I get 0 fps or the whole screen just stops for a half a second. It is constant and makes the game unplayable. They look great otherwise, but who cares, they're one of those drivers that are just jerky and glitchy. (on my system)- Back to the 43.00's for me.

Dude! Hell yeah I play games! All right let me tell you why I'm upgrading this processor. Because it's a piece of crap that keeps freezing and getting way too hot. I think it may have something to do with that cheap thermal compound I put on there that came with my Koolance. And also, I think I put it on too thick after reading the online instructions. This time though, I'm gonna do everything perfectly, I'm even keeping the pcToys Arctic Silver III in the fridge until my processor comes like they instructed. My next upgrade will most likely be a new video card but as for right now, believe it or not this one serves me quite well. After that, I'm planning on getting some pc3500 ddr oc-ing memory. Then I'll probably get a new monitor. It all depends on the prices and right now this is a pretty sweet deal for me for only $99.99.

Yeah, I can understand if it's freezing and getting too hot-- Did you get a T-bred? There are some interesting articals on how t-bred-b's are way better than t-bred-a's Any way you look at it, you will have a nice, fast cpu- so that's cool. If you don't have a lot of cash, in the future you might want to look at a chaep 4200 for a video card. I bought mine for around 160 dollars and I've gotten every pennies worth out of it- now you can get them for really cheap. But if you save for a while you might be able to pick up a sweet 9700pro- that's what I want now. Just waiting till they come down to a litte more reasonable price. (or if I get a damn job and just buy it now)

This one only needs 50W of power. That's what it says on the manufacturer's website. There's also a few other requirements:
 • Intel® E7505 or Intel® E7205 AGP 8x chipset
 • Microsoft Windows 2000 (SP2) or Windows XP
 • One AGP Pro 50 slot
 • One open PCI slots adjacent to the AGP Pro 50 slot for cooling and mechanical
 • 128MB min. system memory, 512MB or more for best performance
 • 3 MB of free space on hard drive for the video display driver software

I got only 3 res left after install. It's a mess since 3 is not enough for my needs. 43.30 went to the recycle bin.

AGP Pro is a special kind of AGP slot that provides significantly more power to the AGP card, and is mainly used in workstations to help power oversized workstation GPUs Not something normally used by the consumer.

What are you going to do w/ your old board 420? I think it would be an upgrade for me- Isn't a via 266 faster than an AMD761/Via 686b hybrid? Anyone know what is a faster board? Mine doesn't OC for jack really.- I'm pretty sure the chipset is to blame. Abything over 150 and it gets kind of unstable- Don't VIA 266's go much higher most of the time?

IDK, I can't think about that right now. But, when I'm selling it, I'll let u know and I'll have all the specs/pics on eBay. Right now I'm still waiting on the damn processor. I talked to tigerdirect and they said it should be here in the next week or so.

1st of all and most importantly, I can't change my order now even if I wanted to which I don't because I've shopped from tigerdirect for a while and I trust them for reliability, quality, and value. I'm not just gonna buy my processor from some random company just because the price is $10 lower. Besides, I called them and it will be here this following week so it's all good.
