NFSU2 wont start. Driver problem?

So I switched monitors yesterday. I bought a 20" widescreen viewsonic. I love this thing but ever since I got it NFSU2 won't start. The splash screen comes up, the CD spins, and then it shuts off. I'm wondering if it has to do with the new monitor being wide? Or maybe it has to do with the way the nvidia drivers handle the wide aspect?

I have no idea. Can anyone help?

Try running your desktop in a 4:3 resolution such as 1024x768 rather than a widescreen resolution and then loading the game.

Hummm...nope thats not it. I did that and no good.

Its weird though because I played it yesterday morning...then bought a new monitor...plugged the monitor in...and now it wont work. I changed NOTHING else.

I just updated the drivers to see if that helped and no dice.

Speaking of DICE, my other EA games (cough cough BATTLEFIELD 2142 COUGH!) won't load either. I Get a weird DirectX error and it crashes right after the splash screen.

I tried other games such as Steam games and all is well there. Fable also runs perfectly well as do some older games that don't support widescreen resolution (let alone anything over 1024x768

The only other I thing I can suggest is to uninstall NFSU2 and your save games, then reinstall NFSU2 in order to reset NFSU2 to load the default settings.

Why do you still play NFSU2, is it because the driving is more realistic than most wanted and carbon cause I hate those ones. Try taking off the line without wheelspinning, not possible!

ummm...I don't know...I just have it. I haven't played the new ones, and I've been more than happy with NFSU2. I pull it out often to play it. It happens to be one of my favorite games.

I guess I can try uninstalling it. I think I'll try it first with another EA game since I don't want to lose my saved game if I don't have to. Thanks for the help Nick

this is a resolution problem, i've seen it before.

you need to delete your NFSU2 configuration

try forcing the game to launch in 640x480?

No probs but as Prince_Link just said you will need to reset the default settings or find a way to force a resolution start.
