hey there! Welcome to DH .

As for your question, you should try the 84.21 driver. the 9x.xx series drivers are known to be buggy w/the FX series cards.

Also, this thread is likely to be moved to the NVIDIA forums subsection of DH by a mod or admin.

But all in all, have a good time here!

actually CDsDontBurn :P

all drivers past 92.91 are buggy on all cards older then the 7800 series (all newer are fine...)

92.91 is working fine here on my FX5900XT :P

oh i should also mention,.. that

93.xx and higher all have issues on FX - 7800

higher cards are fine. (7300,7600,7900,8800)
lower cards are fine (Geforce 2, 3, 4(mx and ti)

i've been trying to find it for the official drivers, but on the beta 93.81 page, if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you see the cards not supported anymore. I don't know if it's the same for the official drivers.

92.91 were on nzone as well :P

only problem with 92.91 is you need to replace the nvvitvs file with a newer one and disable 'apply this setting to all video technologies'

otherwise dvd's and stuff are all too dark.

the 84.21s are their own drivers. if you were to use another set of drivers, use the DHZP drivers made by DH's driver team . why? because the omegas are out of date. other than that, go ahead and use them. lol, well, seeing that the omegas are a bit dated, the newest omegas will probably work as well .

as for driver installation. you ALWAYS want to uninstall old drivers before installing new drivers. even if the new drivers you are uninstalling are older than the current drivers installed.

sweet- sooooo.... do i also want to uninstall my video controller beforehand also? the reason I ask is cuz in my hardware list, it states it is configured incorrectly. I uninsalled my video driver and my graphics look pretty much the same as they did before restart, tho my WoW won't load (fatal exception) . Obviously I'm new at this stuff-I figger I'll learn all the basics on this system until I blow it up and build a new one-LOL-anyhoo-thnx agin.

hmm, that's a bit confusing for me. think you can take a pic of your device manager w/the icon "display adaptes" expanded....should be the 3rd or 4th icon from the top

sorry-this forum has a diff interface then I'm used to-i can't get the image to insert>>the insert option only allows me to input a URL...if it helps-this is weird-the display adapters isn't even an option right now! before the uninstall it was. lookin at the panel, the video controller(VGA compatible) is at the #12 location in the list with a big yellow question mark as it's icon. it's a sub-heading under the other devices (also with a big yellow QM)heading.

oh, lol. that makes EVERYTHING alot easier then .

yea, just uninstall all old drivers, which from your description, you already have done, and just install the driver, and everything should be good to go!

ZOMGoodness-muuuuch better-all done with the install-took a minute fer WoW to catch up to the resolution. but all in all much more like the way it WAS. before i had to nreplace the hard drive and replaced the XP program(thats what started this)--BTW any hints at tweaks or settings, OR a good link that would help me bump the settings a little more(I know, i'm prolly askin fer a miracle) would greatly appreciate! Thanks again fer the point in the right direction and the hand-holding along the way!
