Adding old control panel to 97.92 XP driver?

I wonder about what needs to be done to copy the old control panel into a newer driver like 97.92 that only comes with the new. Perhaps there's someone here who've done it with another driver and knows the basics? I've seen some 32bit driver packs who've already done it, but none for XP x64. And it feels better to do it yourself anyway.

Having gotten bored with the slow driver updates for 7900 class users I took the latest official XP x64 driver for the 8800 cards and modified the .inf to list my 7900GTX. It was easy enough as only two lines that I took from 92.91 had to be added and it works fine with the games I've tried so far. I saved some existing color profiles and reapplied them through the registry, but eventually I'll want to do something which the old control panel handles much better than the new.

Seems the old control panel was still in the 97.92 package and could be turned on by manually changing the registry settings ContextUIPolicy and CplGroupUIPolicy from 2 to 1. Unless it's there as a leftover from an earlier driver, as I haven't tried a clean installation yet. So I'm quite satisfied for now.
