Can't get new drivers to install - Help Please
Am trying to update my 128MB GeForce Ti 4600 /w TV out. I seem to have a Detonator 27.45 driver installed. Attempts to replace it with newer Nvidia drivers have all failled. I don't know how the Detonator driver got there, but it seems to be associated with Dell (my computer) and Nvidia cards. Recently sent message to Driver Cleaner Net & he suggested the forum might be able to help. Here is what I sent:
I am using a Dell 8200 with a 2.54 Ghz intel chipset. The Nvidia card is a 128MB GeForce4 ti 4600 w tv out. Xp home 2. Purchased your program (latest version) on Saturday. Have an outdated driver for my video card 2002-02-19 Version 2.7.4.5 (control panel says 209 MB in size). Your update said I needed the v93.81 or 93.71. Followed your cleaner.net instructions to the letter. Cleaned out old drivers & was left with plain video. Couldn't get any Nvidia driver to update. Everytime I attempted to load a driver the card was recognized and file transfer occurred, but end message was that it could not be loaded because of "Parameter is Incorrect". I could not even get the old driver (original Dell) versions to load - same message. After several attempts, I think the v93.81 actually loaded, but when I rebooted, it would not run. It was also difficult to remove. Finally, and with some difficulty, I was able revert my drive and have the old material reinstalled. I would really like to update my Nvidia driver but, at this point, am afraid to try again. Can you offer some help and a solution? If you need more info, please let me know. Thanks. Is there something with "Parameters" that I can fix? Is the Detonator driver the problem? Any Help is appreciated. |

You did uninstall your drivers before using DriverCleaner, correct?
And also, your video card could be some obscure OEM model with a different DevID. So my suggestion: try a modified driver set; either from XtremeG, NGO, DNA, or even one of the old (discontinued) DHzer0point drivers. Those all have custom DevID's added and may be able support your card.
