Working 8800 drivers with scaling

Can someone please provide a link or any other info for a working set of nvidia drivers for the 8800 series that doesn't have a broken nvidia fixed scaling option?

I had to downgrade to 96.89 to make it work...

Hey there BlueMak, I think iv'e got the solution for you.
I've just this week come back to nvidia with xfx 8800 ultra 685mhz and your above problem was the first of many i've encountered. Wish i never bothered tbh.

I can confirm that is does enable scaling eg black bars etc etc for most resolutions - however i have found that it wont work with any custom resolutions you may have added - myself i need 1400x1050 but as i added that myself it won't scale it, however 1280x1024 and supported rez's by the driver are scaled fine.

p.s the fix worked with 158.22, 158.27 & 160.03

Thanks for the post, unfortunately the above does NOT work for me. I tried it before I downgraded to the 96.89

I hope that Nvidia will finaly do something about this like RE ENABLE THE SCALING OPTION. I can't imagine what takes them so long to fix this.
