What driver for an old MX420?
Alright, I've got an old Geforce4 MX420 and I need to know what drivers I can get the best performance out of.
I tried the latest official driver updates from nVidia, which resulted in unbearably slow computing (10 minutes for the taskbar to appear when Windows started!). Now I'm using the latest Omega Drivers for nVidia GFs which seem to be functioning properly, but I'm noticing frequent skips in gameplay in Counter-Strike Source (everything just stops for a short time every 5 seconds or so) and even a significant framerate drop in older games like Counter-Strike 1.6 and Enemy Territory. So far, the drivers I've used still haven't worked as well as the official ones I had previously from 2004 or so, but I was so quick to get rid of them to update that I've forgotten what version they were. I realize this is a very old card, but any help you guys can give me is appreciated. |

I used to have a MX420 in the past. It was terrible. The best drivers are the detonator drivers. I used the 30.82 drivers. I had better FPS in Morrowind with that driver than the first forceware.
