I was reading an article, (that I can no longer find the link to), by Legion about how to modify NV4_disp.inf so it would install the 29.20 dets without nView. I don't like nView. Nothing against it, but I only use one monitor and sort of hate loading any extra junk on my system. ('Specially one that keeps trying to keep an icon on my desktop, grrrrrrr....) So I gave it a try.
I couldn't find a file named "NV4_disp.inf", but "nvagp.inf" seemed to have what he was talking about in it. I basically just chopped out all references to nview, nwiz, and nview.Quadro. (Well, a bit more...but I did just follow Legion's instructions slightly modified.) They seem to be running fine for me on my GF3, as soon as 'Politically Correct' is over I'll throw 'em on my GF2 MX400 and see how they do. Speaking of PI, it's just starting so I gotta run. If you don't feel like doing all the fun bits yourself you could just download this zipped version of the modified nvagp.inf and copy it over the one in your C:29.20_9xWIN9X folder. (Or wherever you unzipped the 29.20 9x/me drivers too.) This is totally a "do at your own freaking risk!" type of thing, but it's a very tame one that I'm pretty sure I didn't screw up. You can always open up the .inf and poke around, it's just to save some folks some editing. (An annoyingly large amount of editing.) Damn it, Bill Maher is talking and Jesse Jackson is a guest; I must depart. ![]() EDITED BITS: I found the article by Legion when I needed to reference it to play with Omegadrive's beta detonators....

It seems to have actually kicked up the old 3dm2k1se score a touch, but I didn't happen to actually check the numbers yet. (Not sure where the heck they are right now & I don't feel like digging.
) It's not actually an MX400, it's a Silura GF2 T400 which is an MX400 w/tv-out. I haven't tried to use the tv-out, (I don't use it very much if at all, I miss my Fury. nVidia's tv-out quality leaves a LOT to be desired!), but the option to use it is still there. But no more nView crap! ![]() Melikes this trick, I think I'll make it a regular habit. Should I keep posting the modified .infs for the new releases as they come out or should I not bother?

You can just turn nView off in control panel/nVidia,nView/Disable.
