Cool! Nvidia Omega Drivers v1.169.21 for Windows XP/2k

Honey, I'm home!!!
I'm back, been busy, read my front page, enjoy the new site, need... to... catch.. breath...

What's New in Omega Drivers?
v2.169.21

* Based on the Forceware 169.21 Official drivers.
+ Added resolutions not available on normal drivers and tweaked some that where.
* Added new D3D/OGL tweaks and removed obsolete ones.
- Removed all extra tools, only the drivers and Nvidia Control Panel are included.
* Lots of other internal changes that I can't remember, been too long from last release, hehe.

Known Issues:
Since this is my first nvidia driver's release in years and I have been working hard on the website, some features will not be available at the moment, like for example, laptop support, yeah, sorry, but I had to cut something out in order to make the release on time with the new website. Don't worry thou, laptop support will be back on next release for sure or in a possible re-release of the 169.21 drivers, that will depend on how fast nvidia releases their next WHQL set.

Get them here.

Enjoy!

Never thought this day would come. I will certainly test these but might not have them installed to long because I need some of the fixes in the later beta's.

I think they only hold a few updates that Unreal Tournament 3 requires..appart from that they are the same as the whql drivers,as far as i know.

Nice, but didn't Nvidia ask another website to stop modding their drivers?

Or am I thinking of something else? lol.

Nick you are correct! Regeneration of the NGOHQ was "warned". But from my understanding Nvidia could not do too much to them.

You are the man Omegadrive! I love the new site. you must have worked your rear off on that. Installing the drivers now.

About NGO: Nvidia was pissed at NGO for having a patch hosted that enabled SLi on non-SLi motherboards, NGO fought back so Nvidia tried whatever they could to to make their lives tougher.

Ahh okay, Nvidia should have joined forces with NGO since NGO appear to do a better job with their drivers.

Nice one sided opinion you made..All drivers react differently.I could see you're point if we all had had identical pc setups throughout. (that includes bios settings too).

I have tried both ngo's (although not the one's based on this set) in the past and i have had several problems with ngo tweaked drivers..

(I have never had any problems with Nvidias standered Drivers) so for me NGO's drivers don't work for me.

After a good hour of testing these drivers are the best i have used so far.
EDIT Nice work on you're website omega... looks good

I'm actually getting some pretty good FPS rates with these tweaked drivers with no errors.

Yeh I'm not really one sided since I prefer ATI drivers (excluding the CCC) over Omega drivers.

Alright folks, enough NGO talk. I'm sure they have a forum for that. Lets discuss Omega's work.

I'll get these installed this evening. Thanks for the release Omega, we've missed you.

The Omega drivers seems to work really well, and I would love to use them. But, at the moment, I'm having some serious issues when trying to force higher HZ in 800x600 and 640x480. I use those resolutions in many of the games I play so it is vital that I can force the HZ to 100 or preferably 120. But as it stands now, I can't do that with the omega drivers. It does work for 1024 and 11xx resolutions.

Any suggestions on what the problem could be? I'm using refreshforce (reforce) to force the HZ. I've also tried refreshlock but nothing works. Might try powerstrip but I would like to avoid that.

EDIT: Just encountered another problem. The 1024x768 resolution is totally gone in Counter-Strike. I cannot choose that resolution at all now.

Hmm, why you trying to play at those low resolutions??? lol
The reason is that I limited the drivers to 85Hz on every resolution, I was working on the extra resolutions and had to do it for them to work, anyway, I'll make up to 120Hz available on next release for 1024x768 and lower resolutions.

I see
I love those resolutions, and use them in games quite often.

Would appreciate it a lot if you could make lower resolutions work with 120Hz

Guess I'll use ...some other drivers until then, than!

Any chance of having the nvidia fixed aspect ratio option fixed on your versions? Has been broken since 97.x or something.

This wouldn't have anything to do with my problem would it? I'm on a 32 inch HD 1360x768 using the VGA connector (hdmi is borked on the 8 series). when i install omega's it goes through the xp loading screen and then my tv tells me its not supported. However it works fine on stock drivers.

1360x768 is supported, from 60 to 85Hz and LCDs use 60Hz, so it should be fine, don't know what can be happening.
Try this:
Switch the resolutions with the normal drivers to 800x600@60Hz, restart PC, uninstall the nvidia drivers, restart when prompted, cancel the new hardware windows and install my drivers, restart at end and now see if all works.

I think I'll wait until next release then as I never use anything lower than 100Hz (1280x960 @ 100Hz usually, that's the reason I'm still using CRT to be able to game in 100Hz goodness).

Anyways I had to sign up for this forums (I'm pretty sure I've been posting here before?) only to show my appriciation of picking up the NVIDIA OMEGA drivers project again as I remember back in the old days OMEGA > all. My Geforce 4 Ti 4200 card I was using at that time was in love with the OMEGA 44.03 drivers.

Oh and the new site is awesome.

From what I can tell these drivers work awesome. Just not for my card and setup. The card is not overclocked at all but the CPU is.

At startup the screen and mouse lag and looks like it freezes sometimes. In Crysis, the performance didn't hold up for less than a minute and basically degraded to artifacting in less than a few seconds. This happened with some drivers in the past (anything after 97xx but it was fixed with the 169xx series). Basically what I gathered then was that the driver was miscalculating my mem speed on the card and overclocking. There was never really a fix, just not to use the driver.

I had never tried the 169.21 nvidias but all the other 169's have worked perfect for me. Also I do believe there is a problem with AA in anything over 169.13

I would like to see 169.13 omega release but it is kinda a step backwards. Perfomance wise they are the same as 169.28.

Ive been using omegadrivers since forever, and I have actually been using the 16693 drivers since they where released, and I have not stopped using them since they worked so smoothly for the games I played back then, and still play.

I was a bit disapointed by the fact that I cant set the colors for both desktop and ingame like in the old drivers, and that refreshforce is no more (I loved the ease of use)
also it would seem the driver detects monitor and forces the monitor drivers.

I love playing games at low resolutions and I enjoy maxing my monitor hz in all resoloutions, and if it was possible in any way to make refresh rates customisable like in the old nvidia driver, where you could just add a new mode, and then find it in refreshrate overide it would really make alot of crtgamers wet dreams come true.

It would seem nvidias drivers are getting more and more "user friendly" as they themselves would belive, even though they are damn near making me switch back to ati (your ati drivers were great btw)

Ty for great drivers, but I guess I will be sticking to the 16693 for now, and also I always knew you were coming back, and this is why Im still using your old nvidia drivers

keep up the great work, and the new design looks awesome btw.
