The site has only the 9600 as supported by this release.

Yeah, I don't see any fixes, just a single supported hardware. The 9600, perhaps we are missing something .

I installed with a modded INF, and i didnt like the way things happened afterwards. Random crashes, windows stop resonding after jumping out of games, so i went back to my WHQL drivers.

Using these for my 8800GT and runs quite well here. No crashes and runs quite nice, even in Crysis ^^

Made a little comparison of the lastest 174.xx series of drivers in Win XP 32 and Crysis, including these 176.16's.

Here is what I found.......
Crysis settings =all high + custom config to enable very high object detail & disable streaming. X2 AA used (ingame settings)
1600x900.

174.12
min 23.31 max 46.87 ave 37.02
min 23.31 max 49.17 ave 39.31
min 23.31 max 49.17 ave 39.31
min 23.31 max 49.17 ave 39.31

174.16
min 22.67 max 46.46 ave 36.98
min 22.67 max 49.08 ave 39.29
min 22.67 max 49.08 ave 39.29
min 22.67 max 49.08 ave 39.29

174.20
min 22.56 max 46.65 ave 36.99
min 22.56 max 48.91 ave 39.31
min 22.56 max 48.91 ave 39.32
min 22.56 max 48.91 ave 39.32

174.31
min 23.00 max 46.39 ave 37.01
min 23.00 max 48.99 ave 39.31
min 23.00 max 48.99 ave 39.30
min 23.00 max 48.99 ave 39.32

Very close indeed. I found a serious bug in the 174.31's in that control panel crashes when adding custom resolutions.
174.16 seemed to have a slight bug it that when changing 3'D settings it froze momentarily and went blank (but always recovered).
174.12 & 174.20 both seemed good with no bugs, IQ maybe better in 174.12, but its hard to tell.

I like the overall feel of the 174 series, its got a nice feature in 3d setting to to change 'pre-render' limit per profile - so I don't need a 3rd party application to change them anymore. Also my custom resolutions now scale correctly and they never did before.
DV vibrance is added to the colour settings - which is a nice feature thats been broken for a while now.

I'm gonna leave the 174.16's and keep the 174.12's installed
