Flat panel scaling issue with GeForce 8800 GT

I have until recently arrived here, redirected from the Omega Drivers page, so a big HELLO!! to everyone.

Now, onto the matter at hand.
I have a XFX Geforce 8800gt 512Mb card with the latest omega drivers in Windows XP Professional. My monitor is a LG 194WT widescreen LCD.

The problem comes from the nVidia scaling option for non-widescreen resolutions, as the monitor itself doenīt support such thing.

When I change to the nVidia display adapter option, itīs supposed that black borders will appear left and right of the screen when a 4:3 resolution is used so the image will not be stretched. Well, when I change to one such resolution the black bars appear, but... on TOP and BOTTOM af the screen!!. Itīs like if the card is stretching the image to a 16:9 aspect ratio insted of the correct 4:3.

Does anyone here experienced something like that? Am I doing something wrong?. I think the drivers are based on the 169.21 official ones. Right now, I'm downloading the latest drivers from nVidia page to chek if those work ok, but 50+ MB on a 56k modem is SLOW.

Thanks in advance

PS. My english is not perfect, sincere apologies for any grammar error.

I got 5:4 ratio on my main LCD and I use that option, driver version is 177.92 beta. And when I play game that is set for 1024x768 resolution I get black bars all around. The resolution is 1:1 and it's centered. I don't have any scaling options in use so I get the bars all around...

There's that option too, but for Starcraft (the game I want that feature for) it results in a very small screen for a 19" monitor, since the game only have 640x480 resolution.

In the end, I can live without using that feature. It's just annoying have those old games looking stretched.

The drivers have nearly finished dowloading, I hope those will get it right.

Thanks

Hmmm... do you have the option that says it keeps the aspect ratio? I have it in nVidia CP.

Well, newest drivers worked as expected, but..... only for 800x600 and above, lol. So for now, I'm stuck with the stretching in StarCraft an Final Fantasy.

Thanks anyway for the interest and the quick response temeteus.
