Alright so...

I have a 9400 gt. Yeah, yeah i know..it's crap but it's what i have so i gotta make the best of it. When i installed the latest Nvidia drivers, 185.5...it started running reeeally slow. Maybe because of the ginormous sized ass of the drivers? I mean, over a gig? Sheesh.

Anyway, i have done all the deleting in safe mode..everything that one is supposed to do in order to install the omega drivers but every time i get the error that it can't find a driver compatible with my hardware. What gives? Am i just retarded?

Sometimes with "older" gear the latest drivers isn't the way to go..... Maybe try an older set and see if things improve for you.

It's worth a shot, if the newest ones aren't cutting it. I haven't used the omega drivers myself, I was talking "in general" with older gear, which is all I have myself, the newest drivers may not give the best performance, while an older set will.

The download of 185.85 drivers is 78MB, not over a gig. So what did you download?

I don't know! Whatever it is, it shows up in my add/remove programs as 1,172.00 MB. Yikes yanno? Maybe it's a glitch, who knows. Anyway i've just been messing with some inf files and trying to find my own way about things.

Re: *flails*

Depending on your system (if you have nVidia chipset), the nVidia drivers entry in add/remove includes more than just the graphics drivers. On my system it shows as 2.6GB, but it can optionally uninstall not only the graphics drivers, but ethernet, mediashield and nforce PCI management.

Also, the size indicated in Add/remove is notoriously unreliable.
