Yo, I tried to figure out what's wrong with the new drivers on my system, after installing any drivers above 23.11 I have lost Open GL. My sys is(plz don't laugh) Gigabyte 5AX (Ali Chipset) AMD K6-2 500 384MB RAM, Geforce 2Mx 400 64MB, Sound Blaster Live 1024 Player and this runs on Windows XP Proffessional. If you know a solution to this one plz reply...

Make sure you uninstall previous drivers properly - especially when going from 23.11 to any 27.xx -29.xx
Follow this guide to proper driver uninstall: From add/remove control panel - remove nvidia drivers but don't re-start yet! Before u restart, go to registry and scroll down to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Video] - remove all keys underneath. You might have 1,2,3,4,5, etc keys - ALL should be removed (under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Video] there must be no keys!!!). Now u can restart! When u boot back to windows, the system will display message(s) saying the display adaptor isn't configured, something is not set to maximum...etc...ignore it for now. Next install the new drivers, either manually by going to device manager and upgrading the current winxp default driver (12.40 or 29.42 if you have sp1 installed) or you can use nvidia automatic install program. Both should work. Test drivers again and let us know if it made the latest drivers work better. |
