Hello,
Recently I installed and tested Omega's latest drivers and I was happy to see that most of my games became more detailed and clear. Although most of my games did not show a large difference, one game in particular did--Deus Ex (yes, that old game, =)). I was forced, however, to uninstall his drivers b/c of a serious stability problem when running Warcraft III. Although nothing happened during single-player campaigne, my system unexpectedly restarted itself right in the middle of a heated 3 v 3 match on Battlenet!! (that's REALLY bad cuz Battlenet registered that crash as my LOSS and my record got slightly MESSED up! Not to mention my allies were pissed off! =P) When I reached the Windows screen, WinXP sent me a message saying Omega's drivers were responsible for the instability. So, I uninstalled them right away and put in the 29.42 again. I tried War3 on Battlenet again (and again =P) and the game ran fine. Well, my point is, why didn't Omega test his drivers on WinXP before releasing them? I've read Omega say that he didn't really even test them on WinXP BEFORE he released them? I mean, I love his drivers but if they're unstable, it's really no good for anyone, you know. Also, could Omega perhaps get his drivers to become WHQL certified to insure that his drivers are high-quality AND stable? Does it cost too much time or money or both? I don't know. I think it would be a good idea. Still though, I really like Omega's drivers. I just wish I could use them.

where does it say that he didnt test this set before releasing them, are you not talking about the earlier beta sets he released in which he posted a statement asking for testers??
im a little confused but from what im hearing they are very stable, certainly in the indepth reviews ive read they are anyway. As for Warcraft III, I currently own a 8500 and the game has done this on me several times with various sets. Are you overclocking the card? and did this only happen the once? or did it happen several times and flag up the same error message upon restarting of Windows XP? While im certainly not denying you have a problem, I think it might be a little harsh of you to post some of those comments without having some hard evidence to the fact that they are infact unstable. There is alot more to a problem sometimes than just the one specific. Hopefully Omega will be online later himself to comment about this. |
