I just bought a Leadtek WinFast A250Ultra TD (NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600) which should get to me mid week and I want to hear which driver sets you recommend.
im looking for everything, stability, IQ, performance, so lets hear. Omegas? 29s? 30s? or what? ive parted with my 8500 and its been a while since ive been in the Nvidia game. Thanks. |

One nice thing about nVidia is their consistancy, usually the latest leaked betas are the best. I'm liking the 30.30 set, but the 29.80s rocked too. Nothing at all wrong with the 29.42 "official" set if'n you're not in to betas, but I don't see that as being a real hang-up with you.

/me salutes the great one
Ok my opinion is : 2832s for performance with not so good quality (with a little tweaking look better) 2942s (nvidia's) slower but look better than 28xxs (also tweakable for some speed) And then we have the best of both worlds which are non other than the OMEGA,s that seem a little slower than regular 2942s but look alot better. Did i forget anything??.....Oh yeah the 3030s......DONT USE EM !!!!! Like i said this is my opinion and i drew it with alot of benchmarks so dont start flamming me anyone.. ok ?? Peace !! |

30.30 might not work good on gf3 ti500 but they work good on gf4 ti4600

i always think that, the latest one will usually FIX something.. most probably stability. I don't think the fastest driver will be good. Anyway, you gotta geforce 4
![]() Anyway think about this, you have nvidia driver A and B. You run a benchmark. Average of A is 90 fps Average of B is 75 fps This may be what 3d mark tells you and so, you would use driver A right? What they didn't not tell you.. Lowest of A is 30 fps Lowest of B is 50 fps Would you still use driver A??? Driver B is what a call a stable driver.. OK another meaning of a stable driver is it won't crash your games. |

OK Mark i totaly agree with that and im sure its true.
What many ppl dont get is that some bloody benchmarks cannot be taken into consideration for a very simple reason. THEY DONT COME FROM THE SAME MACHINE !!! This was also proven by marks post that the 3030s dont work good on my gf3 ti500 but work better on a gf4 (maybe true in his case but not a standard). Another thing is that no mater how many times we run a bench on our own machine it NEVER comes out the same as before but with little up or down. there are so many things we dont consider when testing our cards like : is something else running in the back ground or Is our card overheated(major loss here ) or or or .....lots of those. In the future try this and see the difference: Start up your cold machine and do a bench then change your driver ,tweak etc. but shut it down for a couple of minutes so it cools off then run your next bench. I know it sounds painfull but after all we do want to give our fellow testers a correct test. Second try this with any new version drivers or tweaks: Instead of running the bench once, try looping it for 3 or 4 shots. Hmmm some ppl ask why............and the reason is that we use these cards for more than 3 or 4 minutes and if a card/driver is tweaked too much it will sooner or later overheat and result in alot of performance loss. Some of the newer users have noticed that they were playing for about a half or whole hour(example ok?) and suddenly they notice that their game dont run so good anymore or even worse they end up on the desktop but worse than that the system CRASHES !! What does this newbie do ?? He blames it on anything but the overheated card !!! Offcourse it isnt allways the card but how many actually thaught about it ?? Well to close this all i want to say is everyone that can and has the basic know-how to test his OWN system instead of reading someone elses results and trying a driver or tweak that my not work so good for them then bitch at the poor soul that went blind trying to create a better set(OMEGA) or someone else trying to help. Thanks for going blind reading this....lol /me bows and walks away |

The 9x/me series of the 30.30s seem to like my GF3 just fine, and it's clocked a tad faster than a ti500. I'm not sure, but I think they've improved the anisotropic filtering speed...I'm playing GTA3 now at 8x and still getting over 40 fps.

heh, ok.. the latest 3030 is suppose to speed up the Anis. Filtering which seems faster..I am using 8x Af now.. suprisingly, with my card, it runs pretty smooth and not jerky in nature's scene of 3d mark.
For those whose drivers are much slower than omega's.. i believe they are using ali chipsets (like myself).. you have to enable ALIAGP manually in rivatuner.... i can't belif nvidia did that to ALI. Omega enabled it in his drivers. |

![]() The rest was easy. She's not really into games the way I am, (I like 'em all), but when she gets into one SHE GETS INTO IT! I turned her on to SoF and she was glued for an entire weekend, (and I was stuck with the kids...); when I was playing the Max Payne tutorial she was watching over my shoulder until I had to go and put my daughter back to sleep...when I came back she was past the tutorial and hopelessly glued for another weekend session, (and I was stuck with the kids...again & it was the first game she finished before I did...), she's been watching me play GTA3 and laugh maniacally for about 2 days before she started asking me about the controls, now she's addicted to it in all her free time. (She works this weekend, I'm still stuck with the kids. )I dunno, I personally think I just got extrodinarily lucky in the wife department. She's an extra special lady in just about every sense of the word and we form a great pair that's definately more than the sum of it's parts. (Two more right now at the very least! )Sorry for the rant, but if'n someone gives me an opening to preach the virtues and wonders of my wife to the world I more than gladly take it. I'm a bit more than just still madly in love with her after 7 years, we're still damned good friends too.
