System Specs

Default Post POWERSAVE = DEAD

Creative GB0030 (Geforce 2 MX DDR)
Hansol 501P monitor - with correct driver
Win98SE

29.80 (WHQL Gainward), and 30.30 drivers

If the monitor is allowed to go into saver mode (off after xx mins)
It comes back blank, possibly crashed - since an expected "blind shutdown" fails to work.
I'm sure this worked with my old ATI card, and I made sure to deinstall the drivers for that.

Is this a common problem - is it a driver problem?

it is a common problem. just set your screen saver to "blank screen" and disable power management.

Thanks, I ought to try the other drivers I have too! - Nvidia 29.42 official, and Creative 28.32 (must check to see if they updated them yet)

The Creative drivers also enable the use of "BlasterControl" - but in one review site, I saw a lot of "fails" for the 28.32's an a variety of tests.

PS. I also have AGP Wizard forcing 2x AGP - this Creative tool (US site only!) works with a Creative BIOS, while BC only works with Creative DRIVERS.

TBH, I tend not to leave the machine on that much anyway!
