Nope, it still there, and even in the new release, there's always a price to pay for a small increment in quality, sorry.
But don't worry, after 10 minutes of play you will not even notice it...

The shimmering effect is from the high LOD value right?

Is it worth dropping the quality to remove this shimmering effect?
or by doing this do we just get stock nvidia drivers at max quality?

Yes Zarathustra, is because of the LOD.

Ryan, If you drop the LOD in order to correct this then I'll be stuck with regular nvidia drivers + tweaks, no more detailed textures.

I wonder if nvidia could engineer drivers like these but without any effects?
would it be worth using omega drivers for the NV30 or the radeon 9700 if there were some?
the new radeon 9700 has some bloody nice anisotropic filtering and I guess the NV30 would too. maybe its a wait and see.

It would be nice to see an exponential curve imlementation of LOD. (as opposed to the linear (?) one currently in use).
