Default Post new nvidia drivers in windows update? (called 2.9.4.2)

did anyone running 29.42 or other notice that when you go to windows update, they list new nvidia display drivers there? I assume this is an xp certified set .... they are calling them 2.9.4.2 These weren't showing up for me .... lastt week?

yeah, they appeared there recently - 29.42 drivers like the official one on nvidia website - though I'm not sure if these 29.42 on the windowsupdate support all nvidia cards...

Just use the 29.42s on Nvidia's site. They are WHQL certified, so that means Microsoft supports them

Default Post actualy, i recommend trying these drivers if you have openGl crashes!!!

ok I applied these, and moderator you may or may not want to sticky this.

i've had one last crash plaguing my CS, usually pops up on resolution switches etc. especially any alt-tabbing, which usually loses you your sound anyhow. this was with 29.42, via patch, etc etc. the crash would sometimes be accompanied by a brief crackle, would cause instant reboot, and would not be recorded in either event viewer OR watchdog logs.

xp appears to at least CATCH the exception now, and CS just rather politely crashes, which is what you deserve if you try to alt-tab, apparently ;-) i am assuming there were some error handling routines nvidia had to implement to become xp-certified to be on the update site (?).

hope this helps some of you who have been having similar frustrations with the new and improved windows os ;-)
