Default Post Resolutions choose able in games

I have an Inspiron 8200 with Geforce 4 and it works pretty good I have the 30.30 drivers.. but in games only normal resolutions are choose able.. I want to have 1400 x 1050 in the games so it fits my LCD and doesn't look blury.. is there anyway I can add this resolution to the D3D and GL resolutions for games? in GTA3 you can choose 1400 x 1050 but in JK2, Counterstrike, Return to CastleWofenstien ect.. the highest I can go is either 1280 x 1024 or 1280 x 960.. I recently modified the Omega drivers to work with the LCD but it had no effect in the games resolutions wise..

that's a pretty good question, actually. i'm sure you would get an in-depth answer here, quicker than you would on this site. you would probably need to do some registry editing, so i won't even take a guess as how to do it.

thanks, ill try posting there.. its strange some games will let me use that resolution and others won't kinda makes it seem like the games control it.. anyone else have any other info or a way to force games to a custom resolution?

AFAIK, don't games determine which resolution you may choose?

And, btw., could be related to monitor (LCD) drivers?

.....

I know I couldn't get those most needed rez's for my need (1280x900@120Hz for instance) until I updated my monitor driver...

yeah, monitor drivers could solve your problem and also drivers for your graphics card that come directly from Dell for the Inspiron 8200 PC - unless you got the LCD monitor seperate

However, bare in mind that it is possible that games just won't support that custom resolution...

Default Post Rez's...

Games based on the Q3 engine, as well goes for CS (HL), usually don't support 'hybrid' resolutions...
