Default Post Driver update problem...

Hi, for some reason when I use the detonator update program from NVIDIA.com above version 21.83 to update my drivers when my pc reboots I get this message:

While initialising device IOS:
ERROR: Real mode system memory allocation failed

This error only happens with driver versions above 21.83.

My pc is a Pentium III 800Mhz, running Windows 98SE with 256megs of ram and I have a GeForce 2 GTS/Pro.

Any help greatly appreciated as when that message comes up the pc will not boot up and just stays on that message. PLEASE HELP!!!

Just use the latest Nvida detonator drivers (3.0.8.2) they are compliant with all geoforce cards an are quite a improvment from the very old drivers that you are using...

I found them for you so you don't have to look for them.

Nvida drivers 30.82

Please continue to enjoy your pc

Thanks but even using those I get the same problem, install goes fine, gotta reboot, just before windows should start up (ie just before the wallpaper should appear) I get the error message and the pc just stops. Resetting doesn't do anything...

Try the omega drivers they also are compatible with all Nvida cards.

Pick the performance option over quality as the quality option might drive your older card too hard...

No joy sadly, just the same annoying error message when I reboot. Perhaps this is not a driver/GeForce problem but it is triggered by it, do you have any more ideas?

I did a bit of searching for this problem and the only thing I could come up with was this article which may help http://www.wintrouble.net/discus/mes...340pm#POST2247

I have had trouble with bad memory since installing XP, it seems to be very fussy about RAM. Try swapping your RAM and see if that helps
