Default Post The power on display

Does anyone know how to stop the Nvida cards from showing the card info when you first power-up?

well im not actually gonna answer that but..

My MSI GF3 ti 500 doesnt (it came that way)

Not all cards do it.

Im sure it depends alot on both Vid card and Mobo bios to be able to do it.

Plus i think only AGP cards do it(none of my older PCI cards did it but as soon as i got an ATI AGP card a while back it did)

The Ray Adams Nvidia Bios Editor may allow you to change it - but invalidate your warranty!

Sorry buddy but what would msconfig have to do with the agp info displayed before we even get to the mobo bios screen??
I mean startup effects prog/apps loaded in the OS startup not the initial boot.
He means the first screen that he sees when he starts his machine not when he loads the OS.
Im sure it has to do with the vid cards bios but like i said i dont know how to disable it (if possible)

What no longer exists? the message, or the card? :mad

The message controls is on the first screen once a BIOS image is loaded - and the flash tool can be used to save the BIOS image from your card, or one of the available archives can be used.

Other options, such as clocking, may also be selected.

NB. For some uses, you may like to add your own "anti-theft" announcement to the message - ... property of xxxxx etc.

Well to answer my own post:

I did an edit and flashed my baby(scared as a cat in a dog house doing it)
and found out:

A) my card or OS(win2k) or MOBO(QDI advance10) wont support SBA.
I started up after flash and it looked fine untill i tried to start 3dmark and the PC froze)so i reflashed with SBA disabled again.

B)yes ...editing the bios does disable/enable the bootscreen messages of the VidCard
Btw you can also add a message to that screen(like i did..lol)

Caution !!!! dont edit and flash your vid card if your not 100% sure of what you edited
and for gods sake dont do it without a UPS cause if you get a power shutdown...you screwed.

I got hold of it for that purpose - to enable SBA.

But then found out that the 2MX does NOT support SBA anyway.
And my motherboard does not support FastWrites.
(So I never did it!)

The SOFTWARE tweakers are safer for most other tasks - though if you've heatsink/fanned and tested an old 2MX core (175MHz) at the MX400 (200MHz) speed, you may like to permanently reset the clock speeds).

The best of the tweakers at Guru3d can do things you might expect would need BIOS edits - the "NVSTRAP" part of Rivatuner lets you tweak SBA, FW, and even the ID into a Quadro.

Got another program, PCIlist or somethin, from I know not where - and that does a good job of telling you the hardware capabilities of each bit, including AGP options

Found it!
