Wtf!!?
Someone look at this Aquamark score, and tell me if it's about right for my video card (BFG Tech Asylum GeForce FX5200 / 256mb) and other components...
AquaMark Score: 8697 (CPU: 7906, GFX: 921) FPS: 8.70 TPS: 2618 K Your Measurement CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ CR: 2139 MHz SRAM: 1023 MB OS: Microsoft Windows XP GFX: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 CM: 250 / 405 MHz VRAM: 256 MB DRIVER: 6.14.10.5672 RES: 1024x768 x 32bit AA: Off AF: 4x DETAILS: Very High I went from an ATI AIW 9200, with scores ranging from 12-14k. The core and memory clocks on the ATI card were 250 / 200 MHz, respectively. I thought I was stepping up a little (admittedly not a lot) by buying this card. I mean, I doubled the amount of memory and its clock speed. Any input or advice before I take the GeForce out and put the ATI back in? Thanks. Here's the score from the ATI card... AquaMark Score: 12661 (CPU: 7793, GFX: 1377) FPS: 12.66 TPS: 4219 K Compare CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ CR: 2139 MHz SRAM: 1023 MB OS: Microsoft Windows XP GFX: ALL-IN-WONDER 9200 SERIES (DNA 2.5.4.5a) CM: 250 / 200 MHz VRAM: 124 MB Driver: 6.14.10.6444 RES: 1024x768 x 32bit AA: Off AF: 4x DETAILS: Very High View |

Sorry to tell you but the Aquamark score is 100% correct but there is more to it here is why, Aquamark is a Directx 9.0 benchmark the reason the ATI 9200 was faster is beacuse its only capable of doing DirectX 8.1 so during the benchmark the Aquamark reduces the quality so its able to run on the ATI card, yea I know you think now that the Nvida card is better but sorry to tell you its not, the reason that the Nvidia 5200 scores suck is beacuse the 5200 is a DirectX 9.0 card so by deafault the Aquamark test will run it in DirectX 9.0 but here is why the scores are so bad the card is not capable of running DirectX 9.0 and adequate speeds, so in essantially the Nvida 5200 is a DirectX 8.1 card with DirectX 9.0 extensions for the sake of marketing, you can thank Nvidia PR Dept for wasting you time and money. The DirectX 9.0 capability is just there so they can put it on the box so they can sell it to you but you will NEVER BE ABLE TO PLAY ANYTHING IN DIRECTX 9.0 AT PLAYABLE FRAMERATES AND BY PLAYABLE FRAMRATES I MEAN ANYTHING BELOW 30FPS IS NOT PLAYABLE WHICH IS WHAT YOU WILL GET, sorry to gave you the bad news, but there is more to video cards than processor speed and how much ram it has its all in the architecture. And by the way get rid of the DNA drivers and install some Omega drivers, DNA drivers are junk its been proven over and over again many times. Just do a search on them and you will get more than you can handle.

So what you're basically saying is... the 5200 SUCKS, right. Well, fortunately I just bought it last night (at WalMart) and I can take it back. I kept the ATI card, so I'll put it back in until I can buy a REAL card. Not sure if I'll ever buy another nVidia product though. I'll probably go with an ATI Radeon 9600 or better. Thanks for the input.

Not bad. I really want the x800 (mucho dinero), so short of that I'll probably look for a 9800 series. Thanks again.

I agree 100%, spend your money wisely this time , get a 9800 pro until the newer ATI cards come down. I feel if you get the 9800 pro you will be happy for quite some time
