These drivers are pretty nice I must say. I believe NVIDIA rushed these out because of Radeon 9700. Don't you just love competition?

Yes this has to be the biggest performance gain I have seen in 1 driver build

Now if only UT2003 would suddenly appear...... Then I would have to say there is a GOD !!!!!

the antialiasing seems to be screwy in this set .when i enable it in f12002 or f12001 it crashes to critical error screen?never did that with any other drivers.in fact i have never had a problem with any other drivers but these.

Derek Perez says no ETA on Win9x/ME - I don't think they made them yet - just switch to Win2k/XP to try these

Tested them on 3DMark 2001 SE, while they did raise my score by 600 points, 3DMark became so dark you can hardly make out the gun battle scene. Also, color correction is not applied on Start-up like the 30.82 drivers would.

FWIW: 13 pages of posts on this @ 3D Mark.

Nutshell:

None to very little improvement on GF2's & GF4MX.

Higher 3D Mark scores for GF3 & GF4 Ti's. The *big* gain is in 'nature'.

Real game issues concerning IQ (image quality).

Consensus > For a higher 3D Mark score: yes, for gaming: wait 'til it's fixed. It IS a BETA, afterall.

Hopefully Omega will apply his expertise & fine tune the 40.41 into a faster & better IQ driver.

I'm sure that once the 2k/XP boys get done testing, we 98SE users will get a stable driver. I do wish to thank those who are doing such.

Figured if I read all those posts least I could do was save others the time.

Thanks for the thumbnail update on the 40.41 set...I ain't upgrading to XP tonight.

I think Boomer's getting just under 3K...something like 2950, I haven't really saved any of his results since it's not really meant to be a screamer. I'm currently doing a re-install on him and will posts some numbers once I get him all put back together.

you mean det 40's - they are det5 I believe - det5 was just a codename - det40 is the PR name for them...

As to win9x/me set - so far it looks like it might be a while before they are made available but then again with nVidia you never know...The latest dets took everyone by suprise...

Hmm, Det 5. Pixel shader 2.2, hmm. Higher Dragothic & Nature scores @ 3D Mark, hmm. No 3D3/DX improvement for GF2 & lower & GF4 MX cards.

Just thinking outloud,

And some bad news from me:

I did everything possible and ever overclocked to the point of artifacting.

On 2 OSs that i tried (XP/W2k) i droped 150 to 200 points.

I did a full uninstall before installing and also deleted certain files that
may cause a bad install (nvrs/nvcp/nvqtwk dlls).

Btw for those that dont know : Most tweakers or options of those will not work with these drivers.
Overclocking is not present in settings anymore and all i could do was use rivatuner
but will not allow me to tweak at a driver level or even detect correctly.

I also noticed alot of clipping.

I did love the new GUI though..its really cool.

Well it is a beta release so im hoping that alot of these problems will come to pass.

Default Post Detonator 40.41 feedback

I downloaded and tested the 40.41 drivers yesterday. My 3dmark2001se score went up from about 9K to 10.2k. That is about the only good thing. Some resolutions are missing (like 1280x960x32) and I saw some funnies while playing IL2 (jaggies and black borders on rivers etc.)
So... i am back on 3082 driver.

Well after tweaking the shit out of these drivers i couldnt get passed
my older marks that i ran without overclocking the card then.

The highest mark i could get with clocks set at 265/580 with the 40.41 was
about 6080.

So i was fed up and went back to Omegas 1.1.82s and did all the tweaking i had done foe the 40xxs and guess what ??
I got the highest mark ever (for me that is).
I got another 70 points putting at 6206.

my best score so far

So all i can really think of is that :

a)these newer drivers are not compatible with older cpus like my P3 1gig or
b)not compatible with my mobo (qdi advance10f) or
c) not compatible with my Graphics card (MSI Gf3 Ti 500) or its modified bios num.

Im gonna try one last time but flashing my GFX card with a normal bios again and see what happens (but i really dont think its gonna mater)

Ive come to the conclusion that these drivers really suck.there the worst and only bad drivers i have put on my system in atleast 3 years.since the time i stopped using ATI products.some games have artifacts in them and some i cant use antialiasing at all.and its just not stable at all.i know its not my computer cause its the first time this has ever happened.i knew something was wrong when nvidia had a beta driver on thier main page which they never do?

i agree. my screen kept switching itself off and then back on at irregular intervals. I am using a gefroce 2 mx.

i put the old ones on and the problem disappeared!

When I first installed these drivers, it seemed like everything was OK. But then, when I restarted my computer, the problem revealed itself. MyNVmax, which I use to overclock my video card, and which sets these overlclock values automatically at startup, showed my an error message. Something about NVtwk not being able to initialize. This really sux cuz i do like this driver's speed and the new interface. I hope they fix it.

Thumbs Down! A quick Little Lesson on the word "BETA"

You guys do have to remember these drivers were sent/ rushed like hell out on the site because of competition with the ATI's and hence the word BETA at the end of the file name lol that usually says alot:
-unstability
- not everything works
-may look shitty
-may cause dammage
-may be abitch to tweat
etc. so just remember its better to scout the drivers out rather than rush to download "beta"
