AGP8X-Working or Not?:
A pretty good read over at the Rage3D boards. (Hi DoomTrooper, we love you too! Smooches.) Thanks Randall Kendall.

Spent over an hour with ATI Customer Service Canada and more important, the Engineering Dept. The subject: Our testing shows the Radeon 9700 will NOT work at all on the Asus P4S8X (SiS648), Gigabyte 7VAXP (KT400/8235), and VIA P4PB (P4X400/8235) which are the only 8x AGP boards on the market. Customer Service was not completely aware of this, but Engineering is.

Hmmm im just curious but what the going price for a 9700 ?

NO NO NO my friends ..never again will i get an ATI card.

Maybe ok for one that wants a All-in-wonder type but you still pay alot for that type of card.

I remember getting the rage 128 all in wonder and when i tried the gforce 256 then at less than half the money i dropped to the floor.

Default Post nVIDIA > ATI...so far anyways

Although it's true that ATI is the current champ with their Radeon 9700, it won't be long before NV30 reclaims the throne. True, ATI is also working on their NV30 killer but as far as I can tell, I think nVIDIA still has the edge in everything from manufacturing techniques to driver support.

My first card was an ATI card and I can still remember the long nights of frustration and anger due to ATI's lackluster driver support. Then I tried the PNY Geforce 4 Ti-4200 and it was like I was in heaven. Go nVIDIA!!!

I went from NVIDIA to ATI actually. First Creative Labs TNT, then Elsa TNT2 Pro, Then MSI GeForce 2MX and then Radeon 8500. Good card.
