coolbits 2
By rewt at nvnews.
Since so many of you like my Coolbits tweak I decided to continue my work further. Coolbits 2 adds additional support for mobile systems, enables the Direct3d and OpenGL configuration tabs, and even more tweaking capability from the nVidia taskbar settings panel. Hope you all enjoy. This tweak is intended for use with GeForce cards and forceware 55.xx - 6x.xx drivers. It gives many extra options to the control panel/driver, including but not limited to - overclocking, agp & hardware settings, fan control, troubleshooting dialog, and openGL 2.0 support! *NOTE: Coolbits 2 is not fully compatible with driver versions older than 55.xx. If you do happen to run this tweak with drivers older than 55.xx you will more than likely get errors at startup! To enable full compatibility, you must disable the options that are causing issues with your current setup. Quote:
The best part about installing coolbits is that you don't have to reboot to get the extra options. Well now, I guess there's a first for everything isn't there? To get to these options simply right-click on your desktop and go to 'NVIDIA Analog Display' (Win XP/2003). For Win 2000 and lower you may need to get to the Nvidia Control Panel the old way. Right click desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > GeForce. Source: NVnews Forums Last edited by MIG-31; Jul 10, 2004 at 04:25 PM. |

as you can see all the usual hacks are in place.
such as clock frequancies,d3d extra options etc. |

First:
I'd like to know how to remove this registry entry if u dont like it ![]() Second: The overclocking options we get after installing coolbits2.....those have been fine to work with? There is an auto-detect option which is safe to use?

B)works just like coolbits one.i have only overclocked my card a little and is still stable. also gives you access to more d3d to select a max fps of your choice. BUT I DO STRESS THIS IS USE AT YOUR OWN RISK |

Yep, tried that.
But even without rebooting (so, after pressing OK) it gives me the default values ..... So, it looks like the OK doesn't store the settings. I've detected 421MHz & 1,14GHz, and am trying to set that. (now that I think of it, I'll try a lower setting just to see if those values can be stored.) |

I had a similar problem with the clock speeds reverting back to default after using the "detect optimal frequencies" button. I just used the detect optimal freqs then I closed it, went back in, went to manual overclock and set it to the freqs it told me on my own. After that the values stuck. Hope this helps.

Max system mem Limit for PCI Textures Need to be removed on 6176 drivers
Max pci mem Limit Need to be removed on 6176 drivers !
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have latest 6176 forceware drivers installed. It seams that these drivers limit you to set Max pci mem Limit exactly to half size of system ram installed . Now that would make sence if you only have 512 ram then you would need at least 200+ to run win XP stable. But for peple that have more that 1G of ram and playing mem hungry games like Planetside and upcomming Doom3 its just not efficient . . And in big way. I have 1536 mb on board and it only lets me set it to 767 max . Now i only need about 256 max to Run win XP so my other 512 doesent realy get used by the game. In older Detonator drivers 53.03 and using RivaTuner you could set that value to more than half. I actualy so Planetside eatup 950+ of my ram while plaing intence battles. But not with these driver it stays exactly at 767mb limit and you cant change that. This just frkn anoys me ![]() Quote: Does Anyone knows how to change your max pci mem Limit to more than a half of ram you have? Maiby registry hack or some other way. ITs funny but i cant realy go back to 53.03 couse my system rejects them. I would, couse i was getting much smoother play > with limit set to 1.1 G

Can I use Coolbits 2 with the Omega Drivers 1.5672? Will it cause any problems or overwrite any tweaks?

@edfx21:

I overclock my GeForceFX 5900 128mb non-ultra to 466/982 by using coolbits by manually adding the DWORD 'coolbits' under the NVTweak folder in the registry and setting its value to 3. Does this do anything different than that? Also my memory wont stick sometimes. After rebooting my computer sometimes it will stay at 982 sometimes it will switch back to the 850 default for no apprent reason, would this fix that problem?

Memory Clock Frequency Keeps Defaulting at Bootup
My video memory clock frequency keeps defaulting as well when I reboot my system. It does'nt do it all the time but it happens quite often. Does anyone know how to keep it from defaulting. I am using Coolbits not Coolbits 2. I only added that Coolbits file with the value of 3 to my registry.

TRy setting 'coolbits' to '0xffffffff' this apparently has some affect with over clocking.
Hope this helps, Pieter.

So it's been about a year since I've had an nVidia card. I just ordered my 6800GT and cannot wait. Is coolbits still the most popular way of OC'ing your video card? I've kind of evolved into loving my ati tool and want a way to turn on OC'ing when I'm going to game and leave it at standard speeds when not.

Hey ericdrum, we use Coolbits 3D(Coolbits 3) to REVEAL hidden settings in the nVIDIA control panel now. What we now use for overclocking is Rivatuner(just do a search anywhere), and Powerstrip. You can use both of these tools as they are both very useful.
