This seems to be more of a problem with the notebook rather than specifically omega's driver. Before I knew anyone else had done this I spent a day or two modifying Nvidia's (at the time) current reference driver to make it work with the Dell Latitude D800s (1920x1200 screen, GFFX Go5650 w/128MB). I had tried both 53.03 and 56.72. By adding the appropriate deviceIDs and matching/adding/removing various pieces between the reference .INF and Dell's 45.81 .INF I was finally able to get it to install and work but I too had the same problem with the screen failing to shutoff in power saving. It would go black but was still obviously powered on. Then, trying to wake it up would result in the whole screen turning pure white and nothing more would happen. Only a poweroff/reboot would fix it.

My goal was to avoid paying the extra $1000 for the essentially the *same* notebook (the Precision M60). But I need to support Unigraphics NX and I-DEAS. Unfortunately only the Precision line of notebooks receive the video driver attention (certification) that is sometimes necessary to fix display bugs with these kinds of high-end applications. So far I've purchased around twenty D800s but I may have to bite the bullet and begin ordering M60s from now on if Dell refuses to update their ANCIENT video driver for the Latitude line.

I've only tried this on a TOSHIBA, and according to LaptopVideo2go, this fix is a Toshiba only solution, since it is a Toshiba related problem.

After installing Omega's Nvidia drivers...

look at davidh44's reply...modify Omega's INF file in (if default location) C:\Program Files\Nvidia Omega Drivers v1.5672a\2KXP_INF
The file is called NV_OMEGA_DISP.INF

The file to be edited is NOT in the Performance or Quality folders!!

For example, according to davidh44, if you want your resolution 1024x768, ADD "HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags0, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,00,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,64,19,00 ,40,41,00,26,30,18,88,36,00,1E,D7,10,00,00,18
HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags1, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,02,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,64,19,00 ,40,41,00,26,30,18,88,36,00,1E,D7,10,00,00,18" under [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] without the quotes. There are other resolutions possible.

Fixes for black/missing bar in weird resolutions does not entail deleting anything in the INF file, only adding lines.

davidh44's reply also includes a fix for problems coming out of hibernation or sleep states:

Look for "HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV, %REG_DWORD%, 3" in NV_OMEGA_DISP.INF. Change the 3 to 2. So, it will look like "HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV, %REG_DWORD%, 2"

So, change the 3 to a 2.

I have tried these fixes on an old Toshiba Satellite 1410 w/ GeForce4 420 Go. I had a problem with the resolution only going to 969 x 768, where it should be 1024 x 768. Because of this, there was a black bar/missing pixels on the right side of the laptop screen. Also I could not properly get out of hibernation or sleep without restarting the laptop.

LaptopVideo2go's solutions helped me out. All my problems were solved. And I'm still using Omega's kickass drivers! Many thanks to LaptopVideo2go & Omegadrivers!

Is there a way to turn vsync on in directx, the tearing in CS:S and other directx games is starting to piss me off

. I've looked in the driver settings and only found vsync for opengl.
