FPS Drop Prob

I have a Geforce 4 MX 440 with AGP 8x running on an AGP 4x slot. Now when i played CS, I use to get 100 fps except when I was in a smoke. However, now my fps drops as there are more players in the screen. Its not STEAM because CS 1.5 gives me fps troubles. So what could be the prob and how do I fix this prob? Someone plz help ASAP. Thank you.

I think it's the 4x Agp rate what drops the frames when you see more players on the screen.
If you should have a AGP 8x Mobo it fixes the trouble, i can't watch your wallet but a 8x Mobo should fix this problem, or set the quality back in the game(i never played the game CS, but i have played HL) but what i can recoment you to play in OpenGL or set your resolution to 800x600.

Or try different settings with the latest forceware and with the latest atuner ,wich is downloadeble @ guru3d.Com
try coolbits to overclock your card then it has more power.(I did the same with Halo)
but 100 fps is not bad at all for your card.
Do you experience it by online gaming? try a different server with a lower ping.

Hope it works.

AGP 4x compared to AGP 8x should only make a negligable difference on such an old game...

I think Zelig has a point because my friend has a Sapphire Atlantic Radeon 9200se on a PCI Slot and he has CS running at 100 fps constantly and he claims that in the smoke, he gets 60 fps. So there has to be something else wrong.
