Backlogged monitor drivers in xp

when I remove my nvidia drivers and install new ones XP installs a new monitor I tried removing these monitors in the registry but it will not allow me.. it seems that many people have this problem with multiple monitors in xp because xp does not show any shadow devices in device manager whilst in safe mode like good old windows 98 did, does anybody know of a way to remove these backlogged monitor drivers?
