Default Post Best Detonators for GF3Ti200?

Lazy as I am I'd like someone to tell me which Detonators will provide the best stability for a Athlon XP/GF3 Ti200 rig (one I built for my Mom ). I wasn't too impressed with the 28s.

Thanks,

Mize

Default Post Well...

The 28s are in fact a little slower than the rest, but they are a LOT more stable then...
In fact, that set is then one I'm using for my first nvidia drivers release, the 28.90

I suggest you give them a try, they may not run fast but keep your PC from crashing...

I use the 28.32's for my rig they seem stable enough and give good graphics, but i would also recomend the 27.42's for the fastest drives. the ti 200 we have is a so so card, ok i guess for most games, but remember it is the smallest of the geforce 3 line up. PAP

22.80's I think are still the fastest 3dmark drivers and have some wicked OGL, but the 28.32 are about the same performance wise, and are downloadable from NVIDIA..

Default Post Hmmmm

Hi guys, this is my first post here. But, in my experiences of Detonator's (since I got my GeForce2MX in November 2000) it's not simply a case of selecting a driver, then telling everyone else which one to use, it's a more complicated process, since a number of different factors affect the end performance of the cards, i.e. what motherboard's your running, different RAM, processors etc etc.

I know it's a bitch, but really it's a case of trial and error. I've just recently installed 29.20 on my PC and left it, not even bothered benchmarking it, don't see the point since my XP1800 is fast enough :-)...

In most cases I would agree with you, but... Some detonators perform the same (e.g. better) for everyone, regardless of specs -within reason.

Default Post Best Drivers For Your GF3

Whell I suggest that you try out the 29.11 Beta Driver. I tested it and it seems to be faster than the 28.90, comming from my Gf2 Mx peformance

Default Post 29.20s = win

Actually, your best bet for full dx8.1 support right now is the 29.20's because they increase the nature demo in 3dmark2001se by SO much! You will definitely see some of the higher, flashier features speed up.

29.20s are available almost anywhere on the web now.

Remember, my first concern is stability. Mom doesn't play too many games (but that doesn't mean I won't when I come to visit).

The problem that really exist with the nvidia drivers is that almost all of the time a new driver vcersion means bug-fixes, so you can't just slap a 22.80 OpenGL driver (the fastest one yet) with the 29.20 drivers, it just won't work. Also, I can't use old drivers myself for my next releases, since the newer they are, the more compatible with newer cards.
When I loaded the Ti500 I'm using now the first drivers I tried to use where the 22.80 set, but not to my surprise, many of the games didn't run, just a black screen comes up.

BTW, as I said before, I care "nuts" about 3dmark2k1, so any increase there, is not of my concern, but if there is an increase in a GAME, then that's my concern, I want to deliver drivers for gamers, not benchmarkers.

BTW2, My first drivers will be based in the 28.90 set, but I'll update progresively...

Wow, the 22.80 Nvidia OpenGL driver Is fastest one, intresting Omega. I, however do some driver tweaking myself with Nvidia but not much with Ati drivers. Right now, on my GF2 MX, I tested and used the 29.11 and they seem to be a faster cause I took a comparision on 3Dmark using the same card and comparing the 28.90. I haven't had any problems with the Win2k 29.11 driver, no torn pixels In games like Q3, HL Engine based game, etc. No lockups whatsosever but I didn't oc my gf2 though. A couple of FPS increase with the 29.11 but no crash or game lockups yet ...Btw I used DX 8.1 Win2k not DX 7.0

Default Post Detonator Drivers for Win2K

I have tried pretty much ever set you can imagine on my MSI Geforce 3 TI 200. 22.80 was the fastest for me but oddly enough 23.11 work really well with it also. I am currently running 29.20 and have no lockup's etc!!! but they are not as fast in 3DMark 2001 SE on my machine.

My machine is processor limited at the moment with only a 1 Ghz Athlon not oc'd

Default Post 29.20 without nView

I like the 29.20 set now that I got rid of all the nView crap before install. Very stable for me, very fast. (On both a GF2 MX400/TUSL2-C & GF3/CUSL2-C )

Getting rid of the Nview feature in the 28.xx series is easy but i guess for user that doesn't wanna tamper with those settings is a relief having the 29.20 excluding it.

Omegadrive, Im interested in what games you had black screens in. I personally have never run across a game that hasn't worked well with the 22.80's. Actually, I have never run into problems with any Detonators, including the loop lol. But I know there's problems with some and the loop. But the rest I always pass off as user error

That was my biggest concern. Everyone always said I would have to change drivers for every game lol

Anyway, I am interested

Why is nView a problem? It always installs here, but is never enabled. What am I missing there?
