6800GT and the Omega Drivers

I just got my 6800GT, ran driver cleaner and loaded the omega's up, got Blue screen of death. Re cleaned and load the nvidia's up and everything is fine.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,
Yallrun

The 1.5672a Omegas aren't built to run with the 6 Series nVidia cards. Those drivers were released BEFORE the date of the series 6 card release.

However, I suggest downloading DirectX9.0c (if you don't already have it) and giving the 66.70 drivers a try. I think you'll be most impressed with 'em...I certainly am.

Cool I'll try 66.77. Where can I get those drivers? I'm most impressed with my new GT/256.

Thanks Wiredzero!

Got em, runs great! Thanks! Is there going to be Omega's drivers for the 6800's soon?

Unknown. It'd be nice to know which WHQL set we'd have to look forward to at least... :S

No lie. There all to busy on the radeon side I guess. I just got rid of my 9800XT cause I thought it was junk and to manual for adjustment in cats to make the card run good. I'm very happy with my new 6800GT/256. In my opinion and game play it blows that 9800XT out of the water!

Hey I'll say it, reason why the radeon side is so pack cause the cards suck, they got issues! lol It's so quite over here cause we install, load drivers and run! It's something the radeon cards lack, Stability!

It's not so much the stability. ATi cards are decent in their own right.

However, having worked in several computer stores...you'd be surprised how many ATi cards get RMA'd as opposed to nVidia ones. It's almost a 50-1 ratio. At least in experience, nVidia cards don't tend to go bad as often as the ATi ones do.

I'll admit though, I've owned a card or two from both manufacturers. I've never been displeased with a card I've bought...but I tend to research 'em a little bit before buying.

True, I've owned both and I'll take nvidia any day. I also was a repair tech, and replaced more ATI's verses Nvidia!

Well my trusty TI died at 4 almost 5 years old, Put it in my daughters machine and it ate it. So I tossed my daughter in the truck ran to CPE (computer store) and bought her the XFX 6800/128. Ok first question, how do you tweak this little 12 piper?

I'm own the GT/256 and the 6800 standard 128 in a matter of 2 days! lol Dam!

Well, I've HEARD that it's possible to unlock the other 4 pipes through the use of RivaTuner...although since I have a 6800GT...I haven't actually SEEN it done, since *I* have no use to do it.

Btw...just thought I'd make mention. Being that I'd seen over on the ATi side that Omega's been working on the leaked driver from ATi for the 3DMark05 bench release...I'd wager that there won't be a tweaked nVidia driver from the fellow for a while. Probably a LONG while in my estimation.

Big Grin

Well the frame rate on my GT are great. But the frame rate on the 6800 128 is pretty weak. I talking 49 fps in a game like raven shield. My TI did better then that. Just wondered if there is a way to kick the 6800/128 in that ass. Yeah I seen how you can open the other 4 pipes but I really don't want ot break out the soder gun! Funny if you open the 4 pipes up on the 128 it becomes a 6800Ultra 128!

I'm just wondering what is the best driver now for the Geforce 6800 128. I'm use Nvidia Forceware 66.70 now. If anyone know any previous driver that are better, please tell me. I don't have a problem with 66.70, I just want to know if I can increase the performance of this card without overclocking.

MSI motherboard
1 gig of ram 3200 Cosair
AMD Athalon 64 3400+
Nvidia Geforce 6800
Western Digital 80 gig HD (SATA)

Right now...in my humble opinion...the 66.70's ARE the best. They're what I'm using...

Quite frankly, I'm a little awestruck at the quietness of the driver leaks lately...haven't seen one in a little while now... Hmm..
