Anybody using external monitors or projectors?

Hi.
I'm using 66.81 in WinXP Pro SP2
I have an annoying problem with my laptop (FX Go5600 chip) whenever I connect it to a projector.
When the system's up and running, I can connect to a projector, switch to clone-mode and everything's fine.
If I now reboot the system, keeping the projector turned on and connected, the windows desktop just can't come up.
There's an occasional button flashing to signify activity but it doesn't get anywhere at least in half an hour.
If I unplug the projector and force a system reboot, it's up and running in a couple of minutes.
Why's that? A bug with nview or something else?
Thanks.

System Specs

Well, the 66.81's ARE beta drivers. It certainly wouldn't be shocking to have something like that come up.

You're probably right.
Still though, it would be nice to know if this thing works OK at least with the official drivers.

that doesnt seem like a driver issue...more like a hardware one with your laptop. some laptops, when they detect and external display device, (eg another monitor) will actually disable the onboard monitor. the way around this as you have found is to attach it after start-up.

Thanks.
This last part about booting up from cold and switching to the external monitor if it's connected at the time, is right. I just came up with it today.
But this is not clone-mode. If I switch to clone-mode and warm-reboot, it will hang up.
Maybe the driver or maybe a generic problem with NVidia.
Oh well. At least I know how to bypass the problem (unplug the monitor during reboot).
Regards.
