6800gt acting strange

just bought a gainward golden sample 6800gt and i have some strange problems with it. everything runs fine its just weird see what you guys think.

quake3-
i can run 1280x1024x32 8x fsaa 16x antisotropic and get solid 125fps.
i turn everything off and just run 1280x1024 no fsaa or anti and its still solid fps but the game is really jerky, i checked the refresh rate is still 120hz so wtf?

cs source-
i run it at 1024x768 full details, 8x fsaa 16x anti i run the stress test i get 64.85fps
i turn everthing off i get 64.85fps
online it is anything from 30fps to 90fps even if i stare at the wall with fpsmax set to 300 i get about 90fps?

its like this with allot of games it seems unless i run it full detail the game seems to run jerky but the fps is solid on max.

i use the 66.72 drivers, i even formatted and reinstalled windows. still the same.

got a 2800xp, 6800gt, 512meg corsair, asus a7v8x mobo i have lastest 4in1's. its really strange.

i get 12,000 in 3dmark 03 not tested 05 yet.
cant work out why it is doing this it just seems really strange. any ideas would be appreciated :P

I have exactly the same card, try installing the new 66.81 beta's from Nzone. I have been running these for a week or so and they are very smooth for me. Before with other drivers I also had the Jerkyness, however it is a driver problem, there's nothing wrong with your card.
