NO AGP Acceleration with newer drivers

Hi..new to the forum. I am having a problem with drivers newer than 53.03. When I install the newer drivers, I lose my AGP acceleration & 3d functions. test fail when running directX. The direct draw runs just fine. I have reinstalled directX, 4 in 1 drivers & Nvidia drivers, but the problem remains. As soon as I go back to the 53.03 drivers, I get everything back (AGP acceleration & 3d acceleration). I have two different video cards; ti 4600 & new BFG 6800GTOC & the problem is the same for both cards, so I know it is not the cards. Can anyone help me?? thank you in advance..

Running xp pro sp2
latest 4 in 1 drivers
directX 9c

Motherboard? Running any tweaking software like rivatuner or whatnot? If not try Riva tuner there's a compatibility mode for certain motherboards, I haven't had to use it but it may fix your problem. I seem to remember having a similiar circumstance though, you are running driver cleaner between each install of drivers right?
Oh now I remember SP2 update fubared my motherboard after switching over from ATI and I had the same problem, had to re-install windows and slipstream sp2 into the install to get it right finally....

if you don't want to re-install windows, uninstall your mobo and vid card drivers, run driver cleaner, to clean out the remainders of the Mobo and vid card drivers and then reinstall mobo drivers then vid drivers would be my suggestion

Thanks for the help...will give it a try. Yes, did run driver cleaner between driver installs. I have a soyo kt333 plat. I am running tweak xp pro & power strip, but not sure if those will help me in this situation. Any ideas if the 4 in 1 drivers might be the problem??

Most recent version of the 4-in-1's? The thing is the vid drivers have their own AGP driver that comes with them as far as I understand that either replaces or works with the AGP driver that is in the 4-in-1, someone correct me if I'm wrong, so changing the drivers could be what foobared you. My best guess is, uninstall mobo and vid drivers, use drivercleaner reinstall from mobo drivers up, you'll probably have to reinstall everything, as far as drivers go, but winblows should have the drivers and automatically replace them since you didn't do anything with them just got rid of what they plugged into, reboot, install vid drivers and you should be good. Then I would get rid of Powerstrip and use Rivatuner, far more options and easier to use. If that doesn't work you may be stuck with reinstalling windows as an SP2 slipstream as I was or reinstalling windows and then updating to SP2 before installing anything else...
