Bad problem with Geforce4 MX440

I have NVIDIA Geforce4 MX440 as display driver. I installed Windows XP Professional again and after that my problem has appeared:

I installed the driver normally. Then, when you must start your computer again and the password window comes to screen, the display goes out and the stream light begins to blink. The whole display is dark as night.

Every time I must start Windows in safe mode and remove the drivers, if I want to get in Windows without the problem and it inform of a new device.

I have tried also older drivers from NVIDIA, but the same problem appears also then. I have also started Windows in VGA mode, but every time I change the properties of display, it turns black in the same way.

All former drivers have been removed and the display's drivers have been installed. I have asked this also in other forums and they say that problem can be in refresh rate or resolution. Now I installed the newest drivers 61.77 from NVIDIA's homepage and the problem appears now only sometimes, not every time when Windows is started.

Operating system: Windows XP Pro (SP1)
Display: Compaq S720

Please help me! I've tried everything, but nothing works. Do I have to buy new display driver or...? Thanks beforehand.

System Specs

I have the forceware 80s on the other computer in the other room, it has my old GF4mx 440-8x 128bit installed in it and it working fine.

Use drivercleaner after you uninstall the driver, then go in safe mode and use it and select nvidia and remove. Then go back into windows normal boot and reinstall the drivers.

Some times left over drivers can cause problems.
