nForce3 laptop drivers for mobo and graphics?

Hey I was wondering if I can use regular ol' nForce drivers for my brothers laptop. its got an nForce3 board and a Geforce440GO in it. Anyway it could use some beefing up since its got really old drivers and I thought I could help him out. He's been having some ethernet and harddrive problems that were fixed recently in nForce drivers and I was hoping I could help him out.

I know that its hard or impossible to do graphics drivers for ATI cards, but I didnt know about nVidia. Can anyone help? Thanks guys.

you gotta get the nvidia drivers from the laptop manufacturer. the standard drivers won't work.

not even using a mobility modder will work? I mean okay I guess i can live with the graphic being screwy...but the mobo is the same? Thats really sucky. Compaq isnt EVER gunna release new drivers.

actually, you should be able to use the FW video drivers, but it may lack some of the features implemented by the manufacturer. not too sure about the chipset drivers, though. :

NVIDIA mobile systems require some special software enhancements to make OEM laptop specific features function properly, such as hot keys and hibernate. Yes, the new NVIDIA Detonator drivers which support our desktop products also work on our mobile products. However, our notebook partners need to implement the Detonator driver into their system specific driver in order to utilize the specific "Hot Keys" and power management features of the laptop.

oh psh. He uses his computer as a DTR(desktop replacement) its basically a desktop he can carry. Hibernate? HAH I bet he would just as soon shoot that horrid bitch called Hibernate. XD

Thanks. I'm just trying out other forums. This one is ok, but there isn't as much traffic as some of the other sites. Lots of good graphics utilities and info here.

it really depends. sometimes this place is hopping so much that you get people posting on top of eachother replying to threads. other times not so much. I'm thinking that everyone is busy especially with the election right now.
