Which Omega driver should I use for Geforce 4200ti 64mb?

hello, i downloaded the 44.03 drivers and installed in "Performance" mode in an attempt to minimize the VTM: Bloodlines stuttering problem. It's the first time I try an Omega driver. From what i read in a couple articles, it's big strength is better textures with minor fps drops. However I have a P4 2400mhz with 256mb RIMMs clocked at 400mhz so i'm mainly interested in performance, and i was wondering if 44.03 are the correct drivers for my card? Also where did the Color Balance in the display properties go ?? I want Digital Vibrance back, the colors look so cold and dead without it !

Any tips on both these topics would be greatly appreciated:

1 - Correct drivers for improving Bloodlines and overall DirectX/OpenGL performance for my card and system? 44.03 or not even close?

2 - Where to adjust Digital Vibrance? Is 44 too old for this? Or should i try the Quality driver install option?

Thanks for reading

I know this is a little off topic.

Have you played Half Life 2 yet? I wondering if the stuttering you're seeing is the same everyone else is seeing. It makes me think this maybe a Source engine issue.

yes it is the same, Bloodlines uses the source too and it stutters a lot. But i just wanted to know how to put Digital Vibrance back and if my current driver was the best one for my system.

The problem comes from swapinterval, the source engine to tendency to a lot swap the textures etc... and the hard disc a lot is asked
the omegas are not magic, it will not remove this problem if that comes from source engine, but there has a small modification to do that allows limit this is swap but there will always have a little stutering being given that his coming of the motor, you must used more recent drives, the 61.77 are nonetheless rather old, they are well for thegames, at last old, I talk about ut2004 etc... on the other hand under far cry 1.3, painkiller 1.35, half life 2, vampires etc. ... they will be at the leads

i know the omegas are not magic, i the problem with source is the engine streams a bunch of textures that are too big for the bus to handle in a few ms so it takes like 3 seconds and it stutters. Anyway i read valve will release a patch for it today so i'm not really concerned about that.

What I actually would like is someone to confirm what i read somewhere:

"Forceware drivers are optimized for FX cards, and Detonators are optimized for Geforce 4 and below"

I heard 44.03 is best version for my card (GF4200 TI) performance wise, is that true?

Another thing, does the Digital Vibrance options exist at all on Omega drivers? because I haven't seen them.

False, the recent drives are also for the former geforce... because of the recent games, they are obliged to improve the compatibility between the former geforce and the new games, on the other hand there will have a performance prob on the former games, that this is on

oh i see.. so old drivers are good for old games, and new drivers good for newer games, regardless of graphics card. Well I'll try the new drivers now thanks for the info

I had a Ti4200 64mb card and the Omega 44.03 were the best drivers i found for stability and IQ, I now have an FX5900 and keep having to go back to the 56.72's to get stability in windows, games seem to play better with some of the newer drivers but i keep running into windows lockups and pages not opening and closing while online
I am gettin sick of uninstalling, safemode, driver cleaner, cab cleaner and then installing the 56.72's, they work great for me in Farcry and Doom3, great IQ and performance, FPS to me is a market ploy by card manufacturers to get you to keep dumping your hard earned money into that computer black hole, If you have performance and iq to your likeing leave it alone, if something does not work, fix it.

4403 are best for gf4 series imo. i think kynz is wrong about using newest drivers. nvidia may give lip service to older cards in new driver releases, but that is all it is.
i have been using nvidia cards since tnt ultra. as soon as a new gpu comes out support in driver releases evaporates. from a business point of view makes sense several levels.
anyway experiment in the 4000 range of drivers. believe you will get your best results there.
