Drivers do not work

I have an alienware 51m with 5700 fx go video card. I have been trying to update the drivers using the ones supplied on the alienware web site. However when I install the latest driver 62.20 (alienware driver) My video does not render properly. Icons appear as black boxes and other graphics are streaked. Reinstalling the previous driver fixes this but I cannot upgrade to a newer driver.

I hope someone has an answer to this.
