Load bias? What is that?
(or is it just another [wrong] way of writing "LOD bias"? In that case you can ignore this post) |

i really don't know why you have problems with drivers: i try them ALL , modded or official, since 66... and i never get a BSOD, never, or any reboot problem, really nothing, so i think iit's because the driver wasn't completely removed, use driver cleaner in safe mode, as usual . My best driver for the moment is 71.20, good iq and very fast.

the newer drivers are more 6600/6800 oriented. the older FX cards would probably see more problems.

you' r right, i have seen a petition from FX users to nvidia, because they don't worry about FX owner since the newest gpu are out, that is a bad mistake from nvidia. My wife has a 5900, an a lot of problems with driver; i put the 66.81 on her pc, and they are working great, but newer don't go so well

I am running 71.20 now w/ rivatuner and everything is fine. with the 70.90's I had the stuttering problem, read in a Lineage 2 forum that it was a glitch in the way the driver was reloading new maps from memory-fixed in latest beta.
I'm aware that i didn't say that correctly from a technical standpoint, but I hope you understood.

Has anybody tried the Display Optimization Wizard under Tools?
Is it working properly for you? In my system, I end up with a darker display than what Adobe's Gamma or my colorimeter gives. Any idea why that might be? Thanks. |

Thanks for the response.
It works but is the display what is supposed to be? After you set it up, say for 6500K and gamma of 2.2, what happens if you try Adobe's Gamma applet (or any other program you might have) using the same parameters? If the NVidia settings are correct, and assuming Adobe's are also, there shouldn't be any need for further adjustments with Adobe. Is that the case? Thanks again. |

Adobe Gamma is an applet (it can be found in the Control Panel and by default it also appears in the StartUp group) installed with Adobe Photoshop. If you don't use Photoshop, you don't have it either.
In any case, it gives you 3 boxes (for Red, Green and Blue). Each box contains a smaller box with the same color but with different lightness. You match the pairs of boxes using program controls and once done, the applet stores in the graphics card LUT table, a profile that adjusts the RGB guns so the display is what is supposed to be. This is what the NVidia wizard does too. Unless you use some other color management software, you can't compare the NVidia wizard settings with anything else. |

you can also use quick monitor profile, who creates a icc profile to add in coloroptions , just google it , don't have the link ,if you're interest; i found it great for color adjustments, better than nvidia's one

Thanks.
I don't actually need an ICC profile generator. I have a colorimeter and a bunch of programs to create one that's better than NVidia's. I'm just curious why is the NVidia so different from Adobe and the others. I'd think they'd know their chips better than anybody and be able to create a correct profile. |
