Battle for Middle Earth won't start - drivers ?

Hi all,

this is my first post here. I have the problem that BFME won't start on my machine. According to the system check program from EA that was delivered with the game it could only be my grap card or my soundcard.
I have a Geforce 4 ti 4200 62Mb Ram. I dowloaded the latest drivers for both cards (grap and sound) but no go. Went back to an older Nvidia driver wich suposedly was more stable but no go. I just tried the last omega drivers but no go. And at the tech help desk from EA they advise me to install latest drivers, run a defrag or set the ingame settings to a minimum (wich would be cool if I could run the game ).

Anybody any idea what I could try next ?

Ran the game a little on a GF4 with the latest nVidia drivers a couple of days ago without problems. Try disabling the sound hardware and see if it makes the game able to start. If even that would not help then perhaps it could be a problem related to the CD protection of the game.

Most motherboards of today has an option in the BIOS for disabling onboard audio. If there is no option for that then you could try disabling the audio driver in the device manager (control panel -> system -> hardware).
