I saw a lot of people are getting "yellow water" in HL2. Looks like pee.

Hmmm, if I get the chance I'll paly around with these, currently liking the 66.97 drivers, except for no LOD Clamp....

Hmmm, well I checked out these drivers and ran some benchmarks, performance is up across the board from the 66.97's however the water in HL2 does indeed look like pee. If you're playing HL2 I'd say stay away from these otherwise they're fantastic drivers
6697

7124

HL2 Benchmark
Coast - 6697 - 1280x1024 - 58fps 1600x1200 - 52.5fps
coast - 7124 - 1280 x 1024 - 56.5fps 1600x1200 - 55.2fps
Hardware OC d3c17 - 6697 1280x1024 - 50.5 1600x1200 - 39.9
Hardware OC d3c17 - 7124 1280 x 1024 - 50.5 1600x1200 - 46.3
Guru3d Test 5 - 6697 - 1280x1024 - 102.0 1600x1200 - 80.3
Guru3d Test 5 - 7124 - 1280x1024 - 104.9 1600x1200 - 91.6

Aquamark
6697 - 53942
7124 - 54767

3D Mark 05
6697 - 3951
7124 - 4573

All tests run with 4XAA and 8XAA enabled, at 420 Core and 1150 Ram on my 6800GT. Also mip Maps are forced to Trilinear and in the 7124 Negative LOD Bias is Clamped, 6697 doesn't have that option....

Pissed

Problems with my 6600GT (same as 71.20): blockiness with some lightsources in NFSU2 and on underwater plants in FarCry (v1.0 - unpatched). Also, some lightsources look much too bright.
Gonna try some official drivers and see if it makes a difference (I doubt it).

Nope, it doesn't.

IQ is quite nice, except like I said the yellow water..... I'm noticing no IQ difference between these and the 6697's just playing games, I haven't had a long time to seriously screw around with these but I do know that they're better than the 7120's or the 6702's as far as I can tell, my favorites so far are the 6697's, just force trilinear for mip maps and these, since I do like HL2 I'll be going back to the 6697's but if you're not playing hl2 I'd say go with these, unless I can figure out why the water looks like pee and can change it that is....

The water is post to be there, as it was said it's polluted, and people have seen fresh water clean after and before that part. ?

I wish I knew why the water was yellow, I'm sure it's a shader instruction or something, maybe Omega or Killersneak could tell, cause if we could just change that these would be my drivers of choice....
