Hi everyone...I hope someone can help me....I have just upgraded my graphics card from GeForce2 to a GeForce 5700fx oc. I just cant get things to work properly. Evertime I load a game I get a message saying " DirectX reports there is not enough video memory to play the game". I never had this problem before. I have downloaded the latest drivers, DirectX 9.0c, run driver cleaning software, checked the DXDiag to ensure everything is loaded, even tweaked my BIOS up to 128MG from 68MG. All to no avail. Thinking that I may have a virus or something I even took the dramatic step and have done a factory restore....losing stuff I really wanted. That didnt work either. I have now exchanged the card for a new one....but I am sitting here now not knowing what else to do...can anyone help me ...?

have you tried reinstalling windows? not doing the "windows recovery," but reformatting and reinstalling windows from scratch?

well, to install windows, you first need a winXP install disc. load it up, and follow the instructions (similar to your windows recovery disk).
As far as the errors go you might have bad RAM. run a program called memTest. Run it, and it will constantly look for memory errors. if it finds some, then you need to replace your memory. |

running memtest is definitely a good idea:
http://www.memtest86.com/ did you check the hdd for defects? I've seen Cyclic redundancy errors as a result of bad hdds. It might just be software, but it wouldn't hurt to check. http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287 |
