strang problem while booting up

well i got a msi gf4 mx 440, when i boot up after 1 second seeing the xp logo (windows me, dual boot) the monitor goes in standby. it comes back once windows is loaded. its stupid because sometimes i can get errors or that damn chkdisk and i cant see it cause my monitor is in standby. any way to fix this this occured after installing the detonator 40s, but detonator 30s are fine....i dont want to revert back. i can live with it but want to get it fixed

Question

What kind of monitor? And have you tried fiddling with the refresh rates at different resolutions? It sounds like XP is kicking into a display mode that has a refresh rate too high for your monitor on boot.

Rick Flair is on a distinguished road

Did you try MSI's bios update on your card, I know Nvidia releaed a bios update because DOS wouldn't work on some TFT monitors.
