??? Nvidia Detonator 42.30 Windows 2000 / XP

I see that Station Drivers is hosting Nvidia Drivers 42.30 for Win2K/XP. The readme file shows version 41.50 but the nv4_disp.inf shows build 42.30. I am at work and have not had a chance to install them so could someone verify which drivers they really are so when I get home I can grab them if needed........

Yes that cpanel says that, but if you install them over older drivers it gives an error that it says that there are divers copied that are older than the current ones and also it is dx8 so either nVidia went back to dx8 or someone has hacked them.

another thing is that Nvidia went to no DX9 support for these drivers, weird. Guess they thought they werent ready yet.

Me thoughts.

From what I've been hearing about these they sound like a real beta set for one developer to work out some issue with rather than the other kind; the pre-official release type of leak. (I like the second ones better, I'm steering clear of these until I hear someone screaming something good about 'em. )

Very STRANGE

I found 1 set of drivers was 14,869 kb and the file name was 43.20-2kxpbeta.exe

Then I seen another set of drivers that were 17,144 kb and the file name was 4320-2kxp.exe

Im staying away until i know what the @#&&^* is going on with those drivers

Plus,I heard that the reason these were DX8 instead of DX9 is that they were having problems (alittle bit) but IDON"T THINK SO lol

Just to clarify, this driver is a real one - not a hack - it’s a beta one so some people might have problems with them - but it’s a real driver.

As to readme.txt saying version 41.50 - that's a mistake on NVIDIA’s behalf - they forgot to update the version in the readme.txt file - happened before that...

Oh and yes, this driver is a 6.13.xx so technically it’s not a dx9 driver, I believe NVIDIA is still experimenting with 41.xx - 42.xx sets and some of them are 6.13.xx and some are 6.14.xx

just installed them and tried UT2003 and they were very comparible to 42.01, my frame rates are usually in the 40+ range @ High Detail so I can't honestly say I saw any image quality difference or performance drop. I have not yet done any benchies so I don't have actual numbers.

I wonder if the FX which is uppose to ship in early mid feburary will ship with DX9 or DX8 drivers.

Would be funny if it didn't ship with DX9 drivers.

give up on Nvidia

come on people, ATI is the way to go, your detonator drivers will detonate your product and your money as well, must be nice to have a disposable income, ha ha...you should all tweak some radeons for a change of pace they will appreciate your investment, beats downloading drivers every three days, ha ha....

both graphics card makers produce the goods, I think all this narrowminded fanboyism is really quite childish to be honest. certainly if you like a maker more than the other thats fine but to honestly say that the other "sucks" and produces cards that constantly crash systems is utter nonsense.

ive got quite a few cards from both makers and they all work fine. either those people saying this dont install the cards/drivers correctly or its simple narrowminded fanboy comments.

I wasn't trying to put down any other company (ATI), I just posted my last post to basicly defende Nvidia after fallange_jeff's remarks- I would take an ATI 9700 pro in a second.

my comment BWX232 was not individually directed to you or in fact any single person on the board. im just getting a little frustrated with the amount of uneducated comments im reading on forums in general. In fact Driverheaven generally doesnt seem to attract as many fanboys as many forums I see which is a good thing.

I just like people to keep an open mind on hardware. after all if we didnt have competiition and market domination from a single company prices would rise and products would suffer in the long run.

Both Nvidia and ATI produce excellent products and regardless to what you might read, BOTH produce very good drivers. In my position I get to test quite a few cards and drivers. Its a healthy market at the minute.
