Default Post BETA TESTING: nvidia Omega drivers 1.0.2940

For all of you who didn't got selected in the first beta round of my drivers, now there is a second generation of the drivers, and they will be in OPEN beta testing.

The LOD for OpenGL is now more conservative than the one in the first beta round, It will look better than before, with less aliasing and shimmering. As for D3D, no luck yet, no way to adjust the LOD to a perfect setting yet (the drivers will still beta until I figure out how to make the LOD settings work correctly in D3D, if anyone knows please contact me).

Here are the instructions for the beta testing:
1) Install the regular 29.40 drivers and give them a roll in benchmarks, write down the results and take a notice of the image quality.
2) Download the Omega drivers.
3) After downloading them you must uncompress them to a folder of your choice using Winzip or any other utilitie that can extract CAB files.
4) They must be installed through the Device Manager, they don't have a SETUP.
5) No need to clean previous settings, the drivers are prepared to remove old settings, even unknown ones.
6) After the install just restart and test again.
7) Inform me of any problems or any advancements.

That's all I need, here is the temporary link to the new 2K/XP set:
http://www.omegacorner.com/files/bet...p_1.0.2940.cab

Enjoy!

Try his new drivers with something that uses openGL, he hasn't finished tweaking the D3D side yet. I got a huge performance boost in UT, (but under 98se), and the image quality is hella better.

The D3D stuff looked so awful it was almost cool & trippy....almost.

EDITED BITS: Just wanted to mention that Omegadrive's beta XP set has been 'leaked' and is now in the wild.

I just gave them a go in Unreal Tournament and they do look real good. Better performance than the last set also.

ive emailed both warp2search, rancho and newsfactory along with that german site http://planetxp.mip.mikemth.de/modul...cle&sid=1597.. to just "clear up" the fact that they got them from omegas official support forum HERE, very uncool they didnt even mention this place at all. a little common courtesy or asking the author would go a long way. they even have the drivers mirrored FGS.

yes thats because digital wanderer saw it and stepped in , its nothing to do with warp2search, I know the guys well and they are cool...

ive emailed everyone with regards to this, I want some credit on the german site to this forum and more importantly I feel omega should have been asked. not only are his drivers mirrored but the important information in this thread he posted wasnt reproduced for users, NOR was he asked.

thats common courtesy.

Default Post Remove Rubish D3D Code Only

Can we get back on-topic please =)..

I'd really like to try these drivers for their OpenGL, although their not much good unless D3D is also working. In other words, can you release a version with just the OpenGL improvements and no changes to the D3D? Or indeed, can I do this myself, which I doubt if the primary .inf file has been altered too much.

mark, the D3D part IS working and optimized, only the LOD is NOT ready, and in this case, with the current settings you may experience a slowdown in D3D, but the graphics are sharp (well... too sharp) and games run.
I'll update the drivers again this weekend with the D3D detail turned down to the standard mode until I get a hold of the problem (of fix it).

Man, you finally did it, take away the blur in d3d, although it's a little bitle to much lodbias, but I read you gonna lower it a bit.

I searched myself a bit to find a way to increase the load in d3d and now you have done it in your driver, nice work

I can finally drop the anisotropic filteringhit, and take the full power of my Gf4.

The nice point of lodbias is when viewing at textures on big angles are a lot of sharper now, and I don't feel the need of using the much more heavy aniso now.

Great drivers Omega....I only lost about 10 FPS in most games, but they look absolutely fantastic! Anyway, what's 10 frames when you're looking at 80-100! I'd have to say that the GL is good, looks nice and performs well, but I noticed that for some reason that 3DNOW!, MMX and SSE are all disabled? Is this just some strange thing happening in my system? I turned them back on so all is well.... Can't wait to see the next set!

Keep up the good work!

I'm still testing and experimenting, please be patient, as soon as I have something worthy I'll release it.

BenT, I disabled CPU instructions support, that's why is disabled by default, The reason?, is actually slower when they are enabled, I discovered this some time ago in the ATI drivers and now in the nvidia drivers.

Is this right? I was thinking this did work, am I fooling myself? And when you say "LOD", are you talking about a setting somewhere that's different from what i can change in rivatuner?

Yep, the mipmapsettings in rivatuner don't do anything with the latest drivers, they just need some extra sharpness.

Omega, any progress on the way?
