How far can I push TNT2 w/o extra cooling?
Hi,
On my older system, I have a Inno3D Tornado TNT2 64MB videocard on the PCI slot. Let me give you the spec on the older machine: NEC Ready 9510 Intel 180MHz MMX Overdrive Processor 128MB 70-pin EDO RAM Intel Aladdin Mobo Inno3D Tornado TNT2 64MB (40.72 WHQL drivers) I installed Coolbits and the default setting for my videocard is 125MHz/125MHz. I noticed no heatsinks on the memory modules but I did see a cooling unit on the core. How far would I be able to overclock this card w/o extra fans or modification? BTW, I only have two fans. One case fan inthe front of the computer and one from the power supply. Thanks |

i would really like to know what you're expecting to run on that machine.. if its games youre talking about (hence wanting faster 3d card) which games exactly? i cant think of a single program that would have any benefit from adding a couple of extra MHz onto a TNT2. even if you threw a Radeon 9700 in there you wouldnt notice the slightest improvement. Your problem isnt the card, its the stuff the cards connected to...
EDO RAM !!!!thats gotta be the biggest bottleneck i ever heard of..... so, in a nutshell.. DONT BOTHER youre wasting perfectly good time and risking damaging a vid card that could go in a slightly better machine someday...
