Screen Refresh Rate - Omega
I'm using a laptop with a Mobility Radeon 9000 card and the newest omega drivers. My refresh rate is fixed at 60hz and it's the only selectable RR in windows settings.
How do I fix it so I can use higher RRs? Can I use ATI Tools to override the RR or so? And another issue, after installing Omega drivers and ATI tools I have a frame rate display at the top right of the screen in my games. How do I deactivate that? Any help is appreciated. |

Are you using an external monitor? IF you're using an LCD the refresh rate doesn't even matter.
The second issue is fixed by right clicking ATT and going to Tools and Option -> onscreen display and turning off OSD |

well i'm just using the laptop monitor, not an external one. So it's LCD yea. I'm no expert in this area, so how come the RR doesn't matter? |

it probably doesn't matter because of the way the image is formed on the screen. Regular CRT monitors have a beam that travels throughout the whole screen, and that speed is set by the refresh rate. I'm no expert but I'm sure LCD monitors do not work that way, the image is formed by liquid crystal, so the refresh rate does not apply here, because what you see it's a permanent image.

Yeah, if you Google for CRT technology and look up a white paper you'll see why

It doesn't make a difference. Just turn off VSync and you'll never notice the difference.
Dig: Top end LCD's can do 60 or 75Hz but it doesn't make any difference what so ever, where as a cheaper CRT can do 85 - 120 at lower resolutions |
