A challenge for the Teck Savvy

Hi Everybody, Not long ago I ran into this problem, I posted here and elsewhere for help. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthread.php?t=97559

It was hard to locate others with a similar problem, but there are a few out there; unfortunately I am not very teck savvy, but I am stubborn. I have yet to find a solution, but I have made some distance. I believed my hardware was failing, so I ran a full HD scan from a bootable floppy I made with a program supplied on the Maxtor website. The hardware is perfect. I have lost my Windows CD, so I have yet to format the entire system, so I figured I’d give ati’s 6.2 CCC drivers another go; which ran into a “severe: zero display service error” upon installation! This complaint is defiantly more common, but as of yet I have no found a solution to this problem either. On this forum I did find
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthread.php?t=98027

This prompted me to remove CCC and (attempt to) reinstall the Omega’s, after I followed this instruction, BF2 still crawled along, but it didn’t crash! Progress?

The game was still unplayable, until my bro turned the in game video settings to low, only to find it zips along. The strange thing about this is the in game graphics actually look like my old medium settings; they are definitely not on low! My guess is the software settings are not synchronised with the video settings on the hardware. All this started when I uninstalled the Cat drivers on my system, and attempted to install the Omega’s. I would like this problem to get more attention, not only because I am afflicted, but also because this problem is all over the place yet nobody has any solutions. Any fix that claimed to work did so before CCC was made mandatory by ati.

Edit: For some reason the links dont work, if U copy and paste into brouser, they do!
